8,000 NFSS Hunters Back Tinubu’s 2027 Re-Election, Endorse Oyebamiji for Osun Governorship

About 8,000 hunters under the aegis of the Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS) have declared support for the re-election bid of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, alongside the governorship aspiration of Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji ahead of the 2026 election in Osun State.

The endorsement was announced during a gathering held at the Tinubu/Shettima campaign office in Osogbo, where the group also urged the president to assent to a bill passed by the 10th National Assembly aimed at strengthening efforts to combat terrorism and banditry nationwide.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Director of Project Implementation at the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Remi Omowaiye, who represented Oyebamiji, raised concerns over what he described as a worsening security situation in Osun State since 2022.

He cited recurring cases of kidnappings, killings, and communal clashes in communities such as Ifon, Ilobu, Erin, Esa-Oke, and Ora-Igbomina, alleging that residents in affected areas are often subjected to ransom payments.

Omowaiye further accused the current administration of politicising the state’s security outfit, Amotekun Corps, and disengaging previously employed personnel without adequate replacements.

According to him, security should not be politicised, stressing that it remains a collective responsibility. He assured the hunters that, if elected, Oyebamiji would integrate them into the state’s security framework, including proposed state policing structures, while also pushing for presidential assent to the NFSS bill.

The endorsement for Tinubu and Oyebamiji was formally moved by the hunters’ coordinator, Hammed Nurein, and unanimously adopted through a voice vote by members present. The group also offered traditional prayers for their success in the 2026 and 2027 elections.

In his remarks, a former Senior Special Assistant to the Osun State Governor on Students’ Affairs and Social Mobilisation, Kehinde Ayantunji, urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
