Adeleke had on Tuesday commissioned the statutes of former Governors of Osun state and unveiled the late Isiaka Adetunji Memorial Circle, Park, and Garden in honour of his elder brother who is the first Executive governor of the state.

Adeleke who used the commissioning of the project to mark the posthumous birthday of his elder brother, Isiaka Adeleke, described him as a passionate lover of good governance and a patriot with selfless leadership attributes.

At the commissioning, Adeleke was accompanied by the wife of late Senator Isiaka Adeleke who is the Commissioner for Federal Affairs and the Timi of Ede, His Royal Majesty, Oba Muniru Adesola Lawal, the Governor separately commissioned the statute and the garden in the presence of top officials which includes the Deputy Governor of the state, Prince Kola Adewusi; the Secretary to the State Government, Hon Teslim Igbalaye; the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon Kazeem Akinleye and members of the State Executive Council.

However, engineers and site workers have returned to the site to complete the project situated in front of the Government secretariat, Abere. The developers have condon-off the project while work continued.

The development has led to criticisms from Civil Society groups who berated Adeleke, for allegedly thriving on lies and propaganda.

The Convener of Centre for Responsive Governance, Comrade Ayo Ologun, said: “Adeleke is running the affairs like a family affair, he built the statue of his elder brother very big and gigantic while others statues of other governors are very small.

“When the project was commissioned was the birthday of his elder brother so the project was not completed. What is the hurry about? He chose to commission an uncompleted project to honour the posthumous birthday of his brother. There is no urgency in commissioning the project that day. It is not right, the enterprise of governance in Osun is not family affairs.”

Similarly, the All Progressive Congress(APC) through its chairman, Tajudeen Lawal said; “We are not surprised that he commissioned an uncompleted project, the administration is built on lies and deceit. It only appears to those outside the state that he is doing something spectacular.”
