The founder of Ibadan-based radio station, Agidigbo 88.7 FM, Oriyomi Hamzat, has apologised to Nigerian singer Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, and lifted the ban earlier imposed on Marlian Records’ songs.
Hamzat made the announcement on Tuesday during a live broadcast in Ibadan, nearly two years after the station stopped airing Marley’s music following the death of former Marlian signee, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
Mohbad’s death in September 2023 sparked allegations of Marley’s involvement, prompting Agidigbo FM to blacklist his songs.
Hamzat said fresh revelations about the incident had cleared Marley, admitting that his earlier judgment was wrong.
“I apologise for my words against Naira Marley. From today, the ban on his songs at Agidigbo FM is lifted,” he said, before directing the station to play Marley’s hit track Tesumole.
