The year 2021 Iwude-Ijesa festival is to be celebrated in a remarkable way as many activities have been lined-up  to spice up the major festival that consist the whole of Ijesaland.

This was disclosed by the Planning Committee of the event, headed by Chief Afolabi Igbaroola at the meeting held with the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Osun, Dr Obawale Adebisi in Osogbo to formally inform the State Government about the upcoming yearly event.

Chief Igbaroola at the meeting highlighted some of the activities which include: meeting with club and Societies; Jumat Prayer; Special Church Service; Press Conference; Indoor games; Football matches; Inter-school debate; Carnival float; Marathon race among other notable events.

The Committee however appealed to the State Government for total support and commitment so as to make the celebration a memorable one.

While Speaking, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in the State, Dr. Obawale Adebisi congratulated the Ijesa people in advance for the enablement to be alive to celebrate the upcoming  annual event. 

He also appreciated them for supporting the present administration noting that, their impacts on the Government cannot be over-emphasized.While charging  them not to relent in their efforts in complimenting the  State Governor's  good work.

The Commissioner explained that Government is so much serious about all Festivals in the State ranging from; Olojo Festival in Ile-Ife; Osun Osogbo Festival; Iwude-Ijesa festival; Isinro Festival Ila Orangun  among others.

He advised the Committee to remember that the dreaded Corona Virus is still very much around in view of this the event should be celebrated with caution in order not to escalate the spread of the desease.

He however promised that the State Government will give maximum support for the event to make it a successful one.

This year's Iwude-Ijesa Festival will kick off on the 7th December, 2021 and the grand finale will come up on 18th December, 2021 at Obokungbusi Civic Centre, Ilesa, Osun State.
