MORE BENEFITS COMING INTO OSUN EDUCATION SECTOR AS UNIVERSAL BASIC EDUCATION BILL SCALES THROUGH SECOND READING AT THE OSHA






The State of Osun Universal Basic Education Amendment bill 2021 has scaled through second reading at the Wednesday Plenary after the motion moved by the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Maroof Olanrewaju and seconded by Hon. John Babatunde Ibirogba.




The Majority Leader Hon. Olanrewaju while presenting the benefits of the bill during the Policy Thrust noted that the bill is long overdue for amendment.


He said the bill enacted in 2017 called for amendment.


He also said that the bill if passed into law would bring lots of benefits to the education sector.


According to him, "This will address wrong things in the education".


"It will ensure proper management of schools across the state." He added


In his remarks, the Speaker of the Parliament, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye noted that the bill needs to be amended for the progress of the state.


According to him, "Primary education is very important to all children because we must conform with happenings in the country".


"Osun state can not be exceptional in education sector" he added.




In their various contributions, the lawmakers noted that the bill would ensure education for all children in the state.


They said that the bill if passed into law would bring about policy review on education in the state.





The Bill which seeks to amend that of SUBEB 2017 in view of the recently reviewed  Education policies  in the State , was sponsored by Hon. Babatunde Ibirogba, Chairman, House Committee on Education.


The bill when passed into law will among other things harmonise the provisions of the State Universal Basic Education Law with that of other States in the Federation.



Earlier, the Speaker Rt. Hon Timothy Owoeye appreciated the lawmakers for their support and contributions to move the state forward.
