The Board of OAUTH visits the Ijesaland Geriatric Project site..... Promises to consider the issue of staffing ahead February 2022 commissioning






Wednesday 15th December, 2021 the members of the board of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTH) under the Chairmanship of Alhaji Sheu Barau Ningi, made a joint visit with the management and some staff of the hospital and the Ijesa Health is Wealth Project Management team to the Ijebujesa road site of the Ultra Modern Geriatric Centre in Ilesa.


The independently funded medical facilities now at 85% completion stage is set to rank first among its only equal which is the Ibadan Geriatric Centre.

Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi, the initiator of the project led other members of the Ijesa Health is Wealth Project Management Team  to conduct the visiting team round the buildings that include Geriatric Outpatient Building, Administrative Building, Theater Complex, Physiotherapy Building, Ophthalmology and Dental Building, Diagnostic Medical Imaging Building and the In-patient Ward One and Ward Two, assured that the project which started in May 2021 is billed for completion and commissioning by February 2022.


"As we are moving to the last stage of completion, we are looking at the issue of personnel and other things that will make the place functional. We will appreciate if concrete arrangements should be made concerning the staffing, so that we would not have to wait. What we promise our people is that at the commissioning date, the place will be attending to our people from all walks of life in their various areas of medical needs." Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi said.


In his response, Alhaji Barau Ningi appreciated the entire Ijesa people for the project that he reffered to as " highly commendable". 


"I am highly impressed by what people and families are doing in the Southwest region donating generously towards humanitarian needs. What the Society is giving you, in re return, you are giving back and this need to be amplified for other societies to copy. Regarding the staffing of this centre, we will do our best." The OAUTH Board Chairman said.

The high remarks during the visit was from the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTH), Victor Adetiloye who suggested the name Senior Citizen Centre in place of Geriatric Centre.


Some members of the board at the Ijebujesa road site were Hon. Richard Adams, Mrs. Mojisola Akinsanya, Barr. Kevin Ugbaja among others while members of the Project Management Team included Chief Mrs. Dupe Ajayi Gbadebo, Chief Afolabi Igbaroola, Elder Lowo Adebiyi and Mr. Iyiola Faniyi.

The team later retired  to Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi house after the inspection for lunch.
