Osun State House of Assembly Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Kunle Akande on Friday disbursed two million naira to 200 members of his constituency in the second Edition of his empowerment programme.
Each of the recipients was given a sum of ten thousand naira to boost their petty trade.
Hon. Akande said in his remarks at the ceremony that the desire to assist petty traders to increase their profit earnings informed the decision to offer the grant.
He said the money if properly utilised would enable beneficiaries to increase their seed capital base.
"I'm happy to note that the bulk of the beneficiaries are women who have unwittingly become the bread winner of the family" he said.
Hon. Akande also explained that the offer should not be construed as a loan but financial assistance from their representative in the House of Assembly.
He also took the opportunity to showcase his scorecards which include quality representation in the house, provision infrastructures like road rehabilitation, school rehabilitation, construction and rehabilitation of boreholes, scholarship awards and communal support.
Party stalwarts and honourable members of the house and National Assemblies took turns to present the cash to beneficiaries.
