TINUBU AND ODOFIN: AGENTS OF DEVELOPMENT.....By Engr. Jimi Dada

 

The presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu appears as the best candidate out of the top contenders to drive Nigeria to prosperity.

Tinubu is an all capacity  leader, who is capable of moving the people towards the prosperity that is  imminent for the country with the largest number of black people in the universe.  In my own opinion, the reasons why Asiwaju is the best person to drive that vehicle are not far fetched. His track records and antecedents as a politician, Senator and Governor of Lagos are there to speak for him. A most significant quality  that makes Tinubu a politician's politician is his ability to recognise raw talent and turns the talent into an instant success with an unimaginable rate of returns. Examples of such success stories abounds in hundreds

In addition to these track records which Tinubu intends to build upon, a careful perusal of his manifesto released a couple of months ago is a testimony to the fact that if truly implemented, Nigeria may be on her way to the desired political condition that the country needs for its rapid socio-economic growth and development.

Top on his priority lists of action plans is national security, economy, agriculture, power, oil and gas, transportation and education.

In the manifesto, Tinubu said his objective is to foster a new society based on shared prosperity, tolerance, compassion, and the unwavering commitment to treating each citizen with equal respect and due regard.

However, Tinubu as the president cannot accomplish this feat alone, the legislature plays a significant role in determining the output of a good democratic government.  Barrister Seun Odofin until few months ago, had been a senior special adviser to Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila on Administration and Legislative Compliance. He rose through the ranks from a Personal Assistant in 2003. As the saying goes, Seun Odofin is a square peg, in a square hole, as he is deeply  rooted and well versed in the art of law-making and other duties of National Assembly members. In addition to these attributes, Odofin has been a committed and dedicated party member. He is the candidate of APC, in the next month's election into  the House of Reps. from Ijesa North Fed Constituency. Also, as a community-oriented philanthropist, he had personally executed and facilitated several verifiable community developmental projects to the Federal constituency such as:

Artisans Mega Empowerment Program comprising 10 tricycles, 50 Sewing machines, 50 Deep Freezers, 50 Generators, 50 Grinding Machines and 20 Motorcycles,

Training and Empowerment of 150 young farmers in conjunction with College of Agriculture, Fishery and Food Technology on various Agro Allied courses;

Provision of Solar Powered Boreholes, solar lights and   three 500KVA in different  communities in the constituency.

Donation of 3 blocks of classrooms at St. Paul Anglican Primary School, Ipetu Ijesa among others.

It is thus, based on the above that the public is challenged to see both Tinubu and Odofin as agents of development that will bring a positive change on board when given the mandate to serve the people. 

The above view is not partisan, but based on the capacity shown by these individuals. It is my belief that we will get it as a fulfilled nation one day, but we must play our individual parts, for there,our honour lies.
