Every Saturday before Christmas, Ijesa sons and daughters at home and from the Diaspora, gather for the grandeur of the annual Iwude Ijesa festival amidst drumming, dancing and singing as they express their cultural attachment to the celebration.

The thrill and frill of the highly valued traditional festival is already in the air, the planning committee members are dotting the "i" and crossing the "t" to make the 2023 edition a huge success.

Tuesday, the Chairman of the planning committee, Chief Afolabi Igbaroola led a delegation to an official visit to Osun Commissionner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Dosu Babatunde who also is a member of the planning committee.

Dosu Babatunde flanked by the Director of Local Government Inspectorate and Services, Mr. Tajudeen Adelabu, described the festival which remains a symbol of unity and peaceful co-existence as a veritable platform for improving and sustaining the socio-economic development of Ijesaland. 

“ Iwude Ijesa is an all Ijesa communities festival, therefore requires the support of local government and the attendance cum active involvement and participation of all the 12 local government administrations of Ijesaland is of vital importance. I have instructed the local government chairmen to be participating at all the meetings of the planning committee so as to stay abreast with the planning of the festival and as a member of the Committee myself, I have never regretted every bit of my participation and contribution to its successful hosting over the years." Dosu said 

Other members of the Planning Committee that were at the meeting included Mr. Akinyele Akintola, Mr. Bunmi Oladele, Mr. Oladimeji Lasore, Mr. Benson Adegbola, the Secretary, Mrs Bunmi Ogunniyi and her assistant Mr. Tobi Omirin.
