Akinwande Akinola Makes Case for Technical Vocational Training as Osun WorkSpiration 100'000 Debut in Ijesaland

"The essence of university education has been defeated in Nigeria. Nowadays it is easier for a fresh University graduate to get a job when he has training, particularly, in technical and scientific vocations. In good old days before you leave the secondary school there was a job waiting for you and for fresh University graduates they beg you to work at the state or federal civil service but things have changed. Nowadays even the civil servants in England don't get a job for life, jobs are given out on contract.  It is easier to get employed once you have a vocational training and a degree with it.

These are the words of Chief Akinwande Akinola, Sawe of Ilesa, a distinguished Ijesa leader, as the Father of the day at the employment orientation programme for youth in ijeshaland, tagged "Osun WorkSpiration 100,000 held on saturday 18th November 2023 at ilesha grammar school, ilesa, as he appealed to Ijesa youth to take interest in vocational training for a wider array of education and skills-building to be able to keep up in the technological race that will undoubtedly play a greater role in the years ahead.

Chief Akinola also used the scholarship given to 250 students of Ijesa descents at the Federal Technical College, Ilesa as a pointer to the resolution of Ijesa Development Council to involve in doling out more scholarships and to make a modest donation to the program.
