Some women market circle of Atakumosa main market, Ilesa, Osun State have kicked against what seems to be a calculative move by Chief Mrs. Hannah Bolanle Ojo Yeyerise of Ilesa to depose Chief Mrs Olabisi Awe as the Iyaloja of the market and install a new Iyaloja.
The after-meeting scuffle on Friday resulted in crisis within the women market circle as some women and men kicked against the development, vowing to resist it at all cost, while insisting that nobody can remove her, since she was installed seven years ago by His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II CFR LLD, Owa Obokun Adimula and the Paramount Ruler Of Ijesaland and she is Iyaloja for all and not for APC or PDP.
In the scuffle that broke down yesterday (Friday) in the market one woman was seriously injured and hospitalized before the intervention of men of Nigeria Police A' Divisional Headquarters, Ayeso Area, Ilesa that prevented a complete breakdown of law and order. The case is currently being investigated.
KAKAKIOODUA can recall that Yeyerise of Ilesa, High Chief Mrs. Hannah Bolanle Ojo had on November 16, 2023 after a heated meeting with the representatives of all associations of the market, suspended the Executive Committee members of the Atakumosa Main Market. The Exco members work hand-in-hand with the Iyaloja for the day-to-day administrative smooth running of the market and on 23rd of November, 2023 Yeyerise announced the names of new Interim Executive members consisting of mainly PDP members that campaigned openly for the party in the last election, contrary to the tradition of asking for nominees from various market associations.
Also of note is that Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has sacked the Iyaloja-General of Osun State, Chief Awawu Asindemade and appointed Chief Oyebode Aderonke Mary as replacement.
