Two labourers Die inside well in Ile-ife

Two middle-aged men whose names were not ascertained have been trapped inside a well while fetching water at a construction site in Ile-Ife, Osun state.

Daily Sun gathered that the two of them had died before they could be rescued from the well.

It was gathered that the incident happened on Thursday around 1:09 pm, opposite Ilesa Motor Park, Ile-Ife.

Findings showed that the deceased came with their boss from Iwo to work on the building project where the incident happened at Ile-Ife.

It was gathered that the deceased were fetching water out of a deep well and the fetcher accidentally fell into the well thus causing the incident.

“One of the workmen in an attempt to retrieve the fetcher entered the deep well but unfortunately got trapped and drowned.

“An attempt at rescue made by the second workmen got him drowned inside the deep well as well,” an eyewitness said.

The spokesperson of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Adeleke Kehinde, confirmed the incident.

She said the personnel of NSCDC from Ife Central Division were alerted when the incident and the corpses were rescued through the joint efforts of NSCDC and Federal Fire Service.
