OSUN: Reinstated Council Chairman Rebukes LG Officials Over Collection of Market Rates

Hon. Lanre Balogun the reinstated Executive Chairman of Ilesa East local government has issued a major rebuke on the continuous collection of market rates by those unknown to the newly reinstated administration, warning that the illegal act deprives the local government of acquirable Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

Lanre Balogun took the remarkable step of addressing the members of the Executive Committee and some citizens of the local government after settling down in his office at Iyemogun on Monday.

He severely reprimanded those council officials that reported at the Ilesa East Sabo Monday Market (instead of reporting at the Secretariat), to collect rates, giving them a strong warning to stop the illegal behavior as he noted that such officials will be punished if it happens again.

"Henceforth, nobody should go to Sabo market without the Chairman's consent, We have to come back to work and work together. I appeal to the SLA and all the NULGE members to resume their duties. They are council members and I will not allow anyone to sabotage our efforts". He remarked as he directed all those in procession of the Council's property to return them.

"The Iyaloja bus should be returned to the council" He said

Another key point of his address included the dissolution of the Imole corps in Ilesa East LG.

Earlier, Hon. Lanre Balogun had led the entire Executive Committee to Ilesa North East Local Council Development Area LCDA, Imo Secretariat, where Hon. Gbenga Omoniyi and his team also resumed official duty.
