ADELEKE ASKED NOT TO EXTEND EDENISATION TO OSCOTECH ESA-OKE....

The proposal of the Osun State Government to install another indigene of Ede as the Rector of Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke should be totally rejected.

He is making a frantic effort to install the present Deputy Rector, Mr Sefiu Adebowale Adewumi who was manipulated to be the Deputy Rector three weeks ago as the Acting Rector and subsequently the substantive Rector.

The claim of the Governor and his Chief of Staff is that Mr Adewumi is the most popular, most qualified and most Senior in the school, whereas there are many others, who are more qualified than him in the polytechnic, among them are former Deputy Rector, Deans, Directors and former Head of Departments.

It would be recalled that an Ede man was equally appointed as the Rector of Osun State Polytechnic Iree, even when he was the least qualified person in the school.

The substantive Rector, Dr  Tajudeen Odetayo an indigene of Odeomu was booted out of office with frivolous allegations to pave way for the Ede man in Iree, it was widely in the News.

In less than four months to retirement of the incumbent Rector, Dr.Samson Adegoke, the Governing Council has commenced the process of appointing another substantive Rector by placing an Advertisement in the Punch Newspaper on 3rd February, after consulting the Governor for commencement of the process which was approved by the Governor even in writing, the Governor through the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education Mr M A K Jimoh, another Ede indigene who is a younger cousin to the said Adebowale Adewumi later asked the Registrar, Mr Popoola to stop the process to enable the Ede born Deputy Rector to take over when the incumbent Rector retires on 20th May, 2025. Adewumi is a nephew of the Governor, a cousin to the Permanent Secretary,  Ministry of Education and a senior brother to the Chief of Staff.

All other qualified individuals in the polytechnic are threatened not to apply for the Rectorship position to give room for the undue Edenisation.

This is against the Edict of the College. The Edict says the Governing Council of the Institution should recommend three  qualified Chief Lecturers to the Governor to enable him choose one of the Chief Lecturers  after a proper screening by the Governing Council, but the Edict had been jettisoned for impunity to take over.

The immediate past Deputy Rector, Mrs Kehinde Ijitona, an indigene of Esa-Oke, an Ijesa was removed from the office to pave a way for the Ede man, with a claim that she (Ijitona) is a Lecturer in the General Studies Department, which is against the rule of the National Board for Technical Education, after all, the Ede born Rector in Iree Polytechnic was also a General Studies Lecturer and that policy was not considered in his appointment.

As the closing date  for the published advertisement is drawing closer, lecturers in the polytechnic are now living under fear and threats to apply.

We are surprised that Mr Diran Odeyemi, an Ijesa Prince could be the Chairman of the Council and such an obnoxious policy could be made, we are calling for his resignation to allow another Ede man to take over full Edenisation of the College.

We are also disappointed that, Mr Sunday Bisi another Ijesa man and many other Ijesa frontline political actors in the Adeleke's government could be in the system and compromised such Edenisation in Ijesa land, what kind of politics are you playing? 2026, is around the corner.

It is very saddening that out of the three Higher Institutions in Ijesa land, there is no a singular one, where an Ijesa is a Chief Exeutive Officer. (1) Uniilesa headed by Professor Femi Ashaolu, who born and bread in Ede.

(2.) Osun State College of Health Technology, Ilesa provost is from Iragbiji, Boripe Local Government,

Our demand:

(i.) Edenisation of the Osun State College of Technology Esa-Oke is totally rejected

(ii) The Government should lift ban on the advertisement already placed; and give every qualified individuals to apply for the position of the Rector to enable a level playing ground contest in the purview of justice and fairness, but not by impunity.

(iii) Mr. Diran Odeyemi, the Governing Board Chairman, Mr Sunday Bisi, PDP Chairman and other Ijesa strong political appointees in the Adeleke's  Government should resign and come back home if they can not defend the Ijesa interest.

(iv) The Adeleke Government should stop causing chaos in Ijesa land as the killings in Esa-Oke and burning of the Owamiran's palace is still fresh.

(v) Our highly revered Obas in Ijesa land should please rise up and prevent the Edenisation and another looming crisis to be facilitated by the Governor.
