Owa Ajimoko III Calls for Unity, Development as Ijesa Elders' Forum Marks Day in Ilesa (PHOTOS)

His Imperial Majesty, Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, Ajimoko III, Owa Obokun Adimula the Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland has called for development of Ijesaland, unity and peaceful coexistence among Ijesa sons and daughters in Nigeria and Diaspora.

This call was made during the 8th Ijesa Elders' Forum day celebration held at the Oba Aromolaran Events Centre, Adimula Palace, Ilesa, Osun State.

Ajirowa Lateef Bakare who represented Owa Ajimoko III at the well attended occasion stressed the need for collaboration and mutual support of all Ijesa sons and daughters as he elaborated on the 4-point agenda of the new Owa that encompasses peaceful coexistence; Economic advancement using farm produce in industry and commerce; Security and Mining.

Earlier, while welcoming members of the forum, dignitaries, families, friends, guests and all invitees to the event, Prof Rotimi Tayo, Vice Chairman Ijesa Elders' Forum called for a minute in silence and prayers for the repose of the souls of late Prince Oluseyi Lufadeju and Prof. Olusuyi Odeyemi, two members who recently transited in to the celestial realm.

The event, where the Chairman of Ijesa Elders' Forum, Chief Akinwande Akinola Sawe of Ilesa, warmly welcome dignitaries, also featured Induction of New members as Mr. Akintoye Sunday Omole, Mr. Jacob Arogundade, Prof. Oyewumi Gureje, Prince Ademola Ogunmokun and Barr. Mrs. Funmi Obisan were inducted.

Other side attractions were an interlude cultural dance, highlighting the rich heritage of the Yoruba people and birthday shout-outs for two inductees, Barr Funmi Obisan and Prince Ademola Ogunmokun.

The highpoint of the event was the dancing time. It was wonderful to see Ijesa elites coming together to promote unity, love, and progress of Ijesaland.

The annual Ijesa Elders' Forum comes up every Saturday preceding Easter Sunday.

The Forum, a platform for rekindling the spirit of entrepreneurship, industry and integrity which constituted the hallmark of typical Ijesa sons and daughters in the past has engaged in various activities in consonance with its avowed aims and aspirations. These include the following:

The hosting of them governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola following his electoral victory and assumption of office 

Also, the hosting of four worthy Ijesa sons and daughters for various justifiable reasons. They include former Chief of Defense Staff of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Vice Admiral A. Petirin, the retired overall leader of the Apostolic Church, Late Pastor Gabriel Olutola, the former Minister of State for Defense, Her Excellency, Erelu Olusola Obada CON and former Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole.

The forum also embarked on signposting street names in various towns of Ijesaland 

The forum completed the rehabilitation of Obokungbusi Town Hall a common heritage of all sons and daughters across Ijesaland.

The forum is in the process of constructing a befitting entrance gate for the University of Ilesa 

Dignitaries at the event include, Prof Taiwo Asaolu, Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilesa who led the University's management team, Mr. Sola Osunkeye, Oba Alexander Kujembola, Alapa of Itaapa, HRM Olusegun Akeju, Arojo of Irojo, Chief Makanjuola Afolabi, Onilaje of Ilaje and wife, High Chief Hannah Bolanle Ojo Yeyerise of Ilesa and the Yeyesogbas.

Others are Dame Chief Iyabo Fagbulu, Dr. Biodun Oginni, Dr. Adigun Adewoye,
