The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted to the latest buffoonery and insanity of the Osun State Government over the correspondence of the Central Bank of Nigeria requesting from our reinstated local government chairmen additional documents to assist them in robustly reviewing their letter for the control of fiscal governance.
Specifically, the apex bank requested that we should avail them "with the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the Judgement of the appellate Court dated February 10th, 2025," to enable them review the request of our reinstated chairmen and respond appropriately.
This simple administrative request for clarity is what some nattering nitwits are celebrating on social media as though our request has been turned down.
Whereas all the required documents had initially been submitted along with the letter to the CBN, the leadership of the bank is nevertheless commended for prioritizing the rule of law in the ongoing efforts of the reinstated local government council chairmen and councillors in the state to solve its own statutory aspect of the political logjam.
We are aware of the desperation of the officials of the state government to (like they did to some judges and judiciary workers in Osun State) bribe and compromise some amenable officers of the CBN with hefty money drawn from the state coffers.
We are however, delighted that the leadership of the bank have been truly professional and patriotic by blocking the shenanigans and rejecting the pressure of the state officials to destroy the corporate image of the bank with filthy personal and pecuniary gains.
That the state government would believe that the Central Bank of Nigeria would oppose the Federal Ministry of Justice and the Attorney-General of the Federation on the interpretation of the Court of Appeal of February 10, 2025, is the height of self-deceit of the Ademola Adeleke-led government.
It would be recalled that the Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr Lateef Fagbemi, after perusing the Certified True Copy of the Court of Appeal judgement we submitted to his office, had counselled the state Governor Ademola Adeleke that the Court of Appeal on February 10 truly reinstated the local government executives elected under the banner of our party, advising the governor further not to embark on any fresh elections as there were no vacancies that would require such.
In a similar vein, the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun, also advised the state governor to put the elections on hold as the security report concerning same was unfavourable.
But rather than listening to the counsel of the two wise men and other legal minds, Adeleke chose to heed the fake prophecy of Prophet of Baal in his political coven and succumbed to the evil prompting to energize his lapdog and Legal Adviser, heading the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC), Mr Hashim Abioye, to conduct kangaroo elections.
Since the Chief Law Officer of Nigeria and the Police Chief have interpreted the Court of Appeal judgement in our favour, the reinstated APC local government council chairmen and councillors, under the the leadership of the state chairman of the Association of Local Governments Of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Abiodun Idowu, have been pursuing the documentation required by the CBN according to the laid-down rules and wherever there is any gap, the ALGON leadership has the capacity to effect the needed changes.
So when has the official request for additional information by the apex bank on the issue at stake amounted to a rejection of the legitimate pursuit of the reinstated council chairmen and councillors?
The Osun State Government, instead of availing the public with the content of a letter from the Federal Ministry of Justice, admonishing Governor Adeleke to obey the Court of Appeal judgement reinstating our chairmen and councillors, it is busy weaponizing the polity with fake news for selfish interest.
A government with integrity would have ceased further action following the recent communication of the Federal Ministry of Justice, which dealt a debilitating blow on whatever hope the government might have to return to the local government.
Education is very important and where the leadership lacks one automatically, the followers have to act accordingly and any attempt to educate the leadership may end the pot of soup being hurriedly eaten.
The result is what is going on which is basically crass inability to read and understand a two-page letter written in the simplest form of English Language understandable for even a creche pupil.
We want to plead with the good people of Osun State who freely gave their mandate to our chairmen and councillors in October 2022 to disregard the propaganda being circulated by the hopeless and terribly sunk PDP.
The local government administration is firmly in our hand and no gangsterism, malfeasance or illegality of Governor Adeleke and his acolytes can displace us from rendering service to the citizens at the grassroots.
