A leading governorship aspirant in the forthcoming 2026 Osun State gubernatorial election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly called AMBO, on Tuesday formerly declared his intention to vie for the office of governor in the next election in the state.
He attributed the decision to govern the state to his profound commitment to serve humanity, particularly the good people of Osun State, where he uninterruptedly lived the first twenty years of his early life.
This is just as he advocated issue-based campaign before, during and after the gubernatorial election.

Oyebamiji, the current Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, National Inland Waterways Authority, NIWA, made the official declaration during a visit to the state leadership of APC at the state Secretariat, Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo.
The gubernatorial hopeful, who was accompanied by who-is-who within the party, noted that regardless of the zoning and agitations for either Osun West, East or Central, he remains the most competent to run under the party's platform come 2026 governorship election and subsequently become the next Osun Governor given his robust work experience in the private and public sectors.
"I am here today to honour the structure of the party and to inform the leadership of the party my intention to become the next governor of Osun State in 2026. This visit is important because this is the leadership of our party, therefore to start any official advocacy or campaign, we have to come here to have their blessings and to communicate my intention.
"Yes, I am from the West Senatorial District and for equity, justice and fairness, we are appealing to our leaders to look into the West senatorial district. However, be it West, Central or East, Bola Oyebamiji is competent to become the next Osun state governor . I have been in the government for almost 15 years and I have worked with the highest leadership of the party. For over 20 years, I worked in the structured private sector, attaining senior management position. I have what it takes to run a good government if I am given the opportunity", he said.
Speaking on his political antecedents in the progressive government, Oyebamiji noted that his achievements have been the motivator driving his ambition to administer the affairs of the state next year. He said his indelible imprints while serving as the Managing Director, Osun State Investment Company Limited, OSICOL, where in five years he moved the capital base of the company from N360 million to N6billion, and two term Commissioner of Finance in the state, have clearly distinguished him as the most capable person to direct the path of the state to financial freedom and economic prosperity.
"I was made a finance Commissioner at a very critical time that our dear state had meagre resources and battling with financial crisis that led to the payment of modulated salary but to the glory of God and through the support of our leader, the then Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, I was able to turn around the fortune, stabilize the economy and finances of the state through right policies and financial reengineering. We were able to raise the state Internally Generated Revenue from 11 billion naira to 29.5 billion naira while leaving the office.
"Also, we made significant change in the maritime sector through our unequivocal commitment designed to turnaround the fortune of Nigeria's waterways sector in line with the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It is on record that today, we have reduced boat accident and death on our waterways by 40% and by the grace of God we won't relent on our oars to do more", he stated
Oyebamiji implored the leaders and members of the party to maintain and sustain decorum which the progressive party is known for, saying it is imperative to avoid anything capable of hitting up the polity.
