Osun 2026: Fanfare as Oyebamiji begins LGs Consultation ... NIWA boss storms Iwo Federal Constituency ... AMBO Project now a household name- campaigners

Following his official declaration to contest the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Osun State, a leading governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly called AMBO, on Tuesday commenced his consultation to the Local Government Areas with a visit to Olaoluwa, Ayedire and Iwo Local Government Areas of Iwo Federal Constituency.

This is even as the enthusiastic leaders and members of the party wholeheartedly received and endorsed the candidature of Oyebamiji to be candidate of the party in the 2026 election.

Recall that Oyebamiji had last week paid a visit to the leadership of the party at the state secretariat, Osogbo where he formally declared his ambition to run for governorship come 2026.

Oyebamiji had served at different capacities in the state as Managing Director, Osun State Investment Company Limited, OSICOL and two-term former Commissioner for Finance under ex-Governors, Rauf Aregbesola and Adegboyega Oyetola and he's the current Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, National Inland Waterways Authority, NIWA.

The  consultation trail of AMBO Movement began at Bode Osi in Olaoluwa Local Government where Oyebamiji and leaders of the party in his entourage met with APC leaders and members in the town before heading to Ile-Ogbo in Ayedire Local Government as well Iwo, in Iwo Local Government.

Some APC chieftains in AMBO's entourage include: immediate past Speaker Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye; former member, House of Representatives and Campaign Director General of Omisore 2018 Governorship aspiration, Hon. Bade Falade; former federal legislators, Hon. Gafar Amere, Hon. Yinusa Amobi and Hon. Lawrence Babatunde Ayeni; Hon. Olasunkanmi Akinola Omotuntun, Hon. Debo Akanbi, Prince Adebayo Adeleke, Hon. Abiodun Awolola, Hon. Festus Babatunde Komolafe, Hon. Sunday Akere, Dr. Tunde Faleye, Hon. Lateef Jayeola, Alhaji Wahab Oyeniyi, Hon. Kamil Oyedele, Hon. Olubunmi Lawal, Hon. Mulikat Abiola, Hon. Leke Ogunsola, among others.

The overall leaders of the APC in Olaoluwa, Ayedire and Iwo Local Governments, Alhaji Musi Opakunle, Prof. Pade Aderibigbe and Barrister Gbadegesin Adedeji who spoke on behalf of the party chieftains and members in all the three local  governments of the federal constituency prayed for Oyebamiji's successful emergence in the party's primary and gubernatorial election in 2026.

The APC stalwarts who acknowledged Oyebamiji's outstanding feats and innate qualities stated that he's eminently qualified to bear the flag of the party based on his track records in public and private sectors. They implored Oyebamiji to prioritize the welfare and well-being of the people of the Constituency if chosen as the party's candidate and subsequently emerged as the Governor of Osun in 2026.

Speaking at Bode Osi in Olaoluwa Local Government, former members, Osun State House of Assembly from the area, Hon. Ajibola Akinloye, Hon. Amos Akindiya and Hon. Adegbile Adrullah extolled Oyebamiji's virtues, urging the residents of the Council to give him ultimate support in the next governorship primary and gubernatorial election.

Fielding questions from journalists during the consultation, Oyebamiji eulogized the leaders and members of the party for the rousing welcome, saying "it is a sign of acceptance and overwhelming support from party's organs."

"Let me first of all appreciate our leaders.  They did wonderfully well. We are warmly received by them. As you can see, we have been to Olaoluwa Local Government, Ayedire Local Government as well as Iwo Local Government in Iwo Federal Constituency.

"We had a wonderful time and all our leaders accepted us and prayed for us just as they assured us that come 2026 our party - the All Progressives Congress, APC is going to win and by the grace of God, Oyebamiji is going to be the next Governor to govern Osun State", he added.

Oyebamiji, dispelling the insinuations of "position sharing among his campaigners" maintained that , " There's this insinuation that we have shared political positions. I want to sincerely dispel this rumour, and clear the air that I didn't share any position and no one comes to me for any position. This is far from the truth and there's nothing as such. What position, I asked them? Is it possible to do such when no one hasn't emerged? it is a blatant lie", Oyebamiji explained.

"it is rudiculous that someone could come up with such absurdity far from commonsense as it is practically impossible for someone aspiring to win party ticket would be thinking of such," he said further.

Oyebamiji, who acknowledged other aspirants in the governorship race, harped on decorum, civility and decency in canvassing for support, saying it is sacrosanct to avoid politics of acrimony and campaign of calumny in all the political engagements.

The AMBO Movement trail paid a courtesy visit to Oluwo's palace where the Oyebamiji's team was welcomed  by Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Adewale Akanbi and his chiefs.

Oba Akanbi offered prayers and handed Oyebamiji's aspiration to God for actualization.
