All the efforts of the Osun State Government to absolve the controversial Governor Ademola Adeleke's Chief Security Officer, CSO Kazeem Adefisoye, of complicity in the illegal, unlawful arrest, detention, human rights abuse of Mr Rasaq Ifedolapo Gafar, a member of our party, have fallen flat as it is pretty difficult to weave together lies to make same the truth in the subconscious of the right thinking members of the society.
Apart from the fact that the administration of Governor Adeleke and the state chapter of the party are not co-ordinated, it is disheartening to observe that both the government and the party are working at cross purposes given the difficulty in defending a pathological lie.
Below are two paragraphs from the statement issued by the PDP yesterday which confirmed the complicity of the pliable Governor Adeleke's CSO in his glaring unprofessional policing service carried out to please his principal:
"Is the CSO to the governor now expected to fold his arms when there is a clear and present threat to the life of the very man he is constitutionally mandated to protect? Or is the role of the CSO now reduced to ceremonial appearances just to please the APC?
"Recently, in the United States, for instance, a potential assassination attempt was made on the then-Republican Presidential aspirant, who is now President of the United States. That single incident triggered the immediate activation of all relevant security institutions, not because someone wrote a petition, but because the threat to a political figure was considered a threat to national security."
The above was an extract of the Press Statement issued by the Osun state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party yesterday confirming the involvement of CSP Kazeem Adefisoye, Chief Security Officer to Governor Ademola Adeleke, in the physical and brutal arrest of a member of our party, Ifedolapo Gafar in his work place in Ibadan on August 4, 2025, following the absurd Petition he and the Special Adviser ( Legal Matters) to Governor Adeleke authored.
However, troubled by the public backlash following the vacuous confirmation, the loquacious commissioner for falsehood in the state, Mr Kolapo Alimi, has gone to town with another narrative, an irresponsible falsity he is known for, distancing the said Chief Security Officer from physical arrest and brutalization of an unarmed citizen.
Even though Osun State Commissioner for Information, Alimi, confirmed that the Petition that led to the arrest of Ifedolapo emanated from Governor Adeleke, through his Special Adviser on Legal Matters, Nurudeen Kareem, the Spokesperson of the Osun State Government laboured to rationalize the indecency and illegality around the arrest of a citizen, with no previous record of crime, without an official invitation by the Police.
If the arrest of the victim was not a naked display of power designed to traumatize the suspect and suppress freedom of speech, the Osun State Government and its pliable law enforcement agents, trapped in this obvious illegal duty, would have caused an invitation to be extended to Ifedolapo Gafar.
For the record, Ifedolapo was one of the many patriotic citizens who abandoned the hopeless government of Senator Adeleke in 2024 when they could no longer swallow the administrative incompetence, political rascality and financial profligacy of the regime.
Since joining the APC, Ifedolapo has used his social media space to question the rationality behind charging N1.5 million in the state-owned university in Ilesa when the governor and his unproductive associates spent N60 billion in just 30 months to eat, drink and sustain their luxury lifestyle.
He, like many Osun State citizens, daily questions the insanity behind the Osun State Government earning humongous allocation, close to N1 trillion in less than three years, yet could not replace the 1,500 teachers it sacked on assumption of office in November 2022 because the beneficiaries were employed by the previous administration of ex-Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.
We hold that Ifedolapo's lawful criticism of the Adeleke government is what rattled and provoked the government, thus plotting to take him out of circulation.
The Adeleke government believes threatening innocent opposition members with imprisonment, brutalization and legal sanction would frighten them and discourage them from asking the government about the teachers' recruitment fraud where over 32,000 job applicants were duped of their hard-earned money by the handlers of the current government who make fortunes out of the misfortunes of the citizens.
We invite the good people of Osun State to the fact that: in the last two months, the key officials of the Adeleke government have been under investigation of the EFCC for contract fraud and mismanagement of TETFUND and UBEC funds. Many of them have now become regular visitors to the office of the anti-corruption agency.
Fearing that the development may further anger the citizens who are resolute to vote out the bumbling government in 2026 on account of its monumental failure, the handlers of the governor are now resorting to all tactics to suppress free speech and commentary on the endemic corruption of the government.
But these dishonest characters should bury the thought they could successfully use the Police and instruments of government to gag us.
The Osun APC will continue to expose the parasites feeding fat on the commonwealth and economy of the state.
