‎Famurewa and Famurewa The Case of Mistaken Identity... ‎ ‎By Oladimeji Lasore ‎

‎I recently showed up at a social event organized by our Ijesa elites on the development of Ijesaland. Many of them of course know the Ijesaland major political players and Hon. Israel Ajibola Famurewa two terms as member of the National Assembly under the All Progressives Congress has made his name trendy.

‎The formal event had in attendance some Ijesa leaders who for one way or the other have identified my association with the APC and Hon. Ajibola Famurewa. I always like to feel the pleasure of being a good representative of everything he represents; calmness, prayerful, humble, and unassuming.

‎

‎A chief, who I know has sympathy for the APC though he is not at all into politics or politicking called out my name and made a hand sign that I should come over. In a conversation that ensued he quietly asked me in Ijesa "Ngbo oga re ti decamp" (So your leader has decamped). I didn't need to ask him who is my political leader he was referring to. My reply was a sharp "No!". He proceeded to affirm that he read the copy of Famurewa's letter of resignation on his phone. "It was posted and shared severally". He insisted

‎I felt very embarrassed. How could someone confidently have made this mistaken identify of Israel Famurewa and Francis Famurewa?

‎

‎I proceeded to engage him in a conversation and told him about a certain Francis Famurewa who was sanctioned from the APC since August 31, 2023, when the Osun APC suspended 26 members over glaring anti-party activities but who for cheap relevance recently tendered a letter of resignation.
