As the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun gears up for the August 8th, 2026 elections, the governorship ambition of the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) today received a significant boost in Ayedaade Local Government, as leaders, stakeholders and members of the party heartily received the team of AMBO Grassrooters who were in the LG in continuation of the sensitization and mobilization tour of Osun local governments.
Hon. Kolapo Olayanju in his introductory remarks thanked the leaders of the party for the warm reception accorded the group. He noted that Ayedaade serves as the backbone of progressive movement in Osun stating that the local government hasn't failed the party in recent elections.
Engr. Maroof Kayode Ogundipe in his opening remarks on behalf of the team, introduced the group as an independent support group for the aspirations of the MD/CEO NIWA, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji consisting of past and present local government Chairmen from 2017 till date.
He revealed that the group's support for Oyebamiji arose from their firm conviction that the next governorship candidate under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress must emerge from the Osun West Senatorial District. He added that for equity, fairness and political balance, the zone should be given the opportunity to present the party's flagbearer for the August 8th, 2026 elections in the state. He noted that the zone parades competent, charismatic, educated and capable hands needed to re-engineer the economy of Osun and reposition the state for economic turnaround.
Hon. Ismaila Alagbada, a former commissioner for commerce and industry in his reaction lauded the group for peaceful disposition to the 2026 elections, noting that the group's campaign have been very unique and devoid of hatred and acrimony. He preached for peace and unity, revealing that these two factors are very key to the success of the party at the 2026 polls.
Hon. Quadri Lasisi, a former chairman of Ayedaade South LCDA, Orile Owu pleaded for spirit of sportsmanship after the emergence of a flagbearer for the party noting that what should be prioritized is the party's victory in 2026.
The APC Chairman in Ayedaade Local Government, Hon. Abdulrahman Morenikeji and a former Women Leader of the party in Ayedaade , Chief Mrs Sabaina Adegboye, sued for peace, unity and synergy, noting that the APC remains the only credible alternative and the best option for Osun. He charged the AMBO Grassrooters team and members present to continue in the campaign of unity as he is optimistic that the party would reclaim the state in 2026.
The group praised Oyebamiji for his contributions to the economic growth of Osun adding that Oyebamiji's financial intelligence contributed to the state's GDP and IGR growth while he served as commissioner for finance. They noted that Osun would experience a monumental development in Agriculture, Health, Education and other sectors of the economy if Oyebamiji is given the ticket of the state and eventually voted in as Governor in 2026.
The group urged for the support of leaders in Ayedaade Local Government with a conviction that welfare of party members as well as respect for the supremacy of the party take the front burner on the agenda of the Ikire-Born seasoned technocrat cum politician.
