Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has travelled to the United States to attend the wedding of his nephew, renowned singer Davido. The white wedding between Davido and Chioma Rowland is set to take place this August in Miami, Florida.
The governor’s trip has stirred criticism, particularly from the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which questioned his sudden departure and claimed he failed to formally notify the public or announce a handover of duties to his deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi.
In response, the governor’s media aide, Olawale Rasheed, issued a statement clarifying that Adeleke left Nigeria aboard the family’s private jet a few days ago, emphasizing that the journey is strictly personal and family-related, not an official mission.
The statement also highlighted that Governor Adeleke has not taken any official leave since assuming office in November 2022, and assured the public that he remains in constant communication with his deputy, who is overseeing state affairs in his absence.
“Governor Adeleke departed Nigeria for the U.S. aboard the family’s private jet to attend the wedding of the global music sensation and his dear nephew, David Adeleke,” the statement read.
The governor also extended a warm invitation to members of the opposition and the public to join the family in celebrating the joyous occasion.
