PDP governors benefitting from Tinubu economic reforms yet underperforming - APC National Publicity Secretary

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of benefiting from President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms while failing to deliver good governance in their states.

The comment followed the PDP Governors’ Forum meeting in Zamfara State on Saturday. In a statement issued on Monday, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka criticised the opposition party for alleging undemocratic conduct by the ruling party and predicting electoral defeat for the APC in 2027.

Morka described the PDP as “a party in deep crisis, crippled by its own internal failures,” saying its governors should “focus on resuscitating their terminally ailing party rather than issuing frivolous statements.”

He pointed out that federal allocations to state governments have more than doubled under Tinubu’s administration, with N2 trillion shared as of July 2025 — the highest in Nigeria’s history. Despite these unprecedented revenues, Morka argued, PDP governors have failed to improve governance or provide tangible benefits to citizens.

“The PDP Governors are some of the biggest beneficiaries of President Tinubu’s outstanding economic policy innovation that is revamping and revitalising our country’s economy for sustained growth and progress,” he said. “Yet, they have continued to fail their citizens with disgracefully dismal performance.”

The APC spokesman also cited the party’s recent victories in bye-elections, including in non-APC states such as Zamfara, Adamawa, and Kano, as evidence of public confidence in the Tinubu administration. He accused PDP governors of hypocrisy for praising electoral outcomes where they won while condemning results where they lost.

Morka insisted that Nigerians will not return to “the dark era of PDP-led federal administration when many state governments were bankrupt and unable to pay wages,” adding that Tinubu’s policies have charted “a new and clear path of prosperity.”

The APC urged Nigerians to “ignore misleading rhetoric” from the opposition and continue supporting the Tinubu government’s “renewed hope agenda.”
