Alleged INEC collusion audio baseless, malicious – Oyebamiji

The Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) Media Fronts has dismissed as fake and malicious an audio recording alleging that All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant, Bola Oyebamiji, colluded with INEC officials to influence the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in Osun State.

In a statement issued by its Coordinator, Adebayo Adedeji, and made available to WESTERN POST in Osogbo, the group described the viral audio as a tool of blackmail aimed at tarnishing Oyebamiji’s image and weakening the APC ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

The recording alleged that out of 393,269 applicants enrolled in the INEC pre-registration exercise, 118,000 were allegedly secured by Oyebamiji’s supporters through a secret pact with INEC. Adedeji said the claim was baseless, mischievous, and fabricated to mislead the public.

“Why would Asiwaju Oyebamiji compromise the electoral process to win a contest already lost by the governing party, given the woeful performance of Governor Ademola Adeleke in 33 months? The governor has edged himself out of office through unjust policies; APC has no need for backdoor tactics to defeat him in 2026,” he said.

He argued that it was unreasonable to claim APC would bribe INEC officials when thousands of job applicants, who paid fees during a failed teacher recruitment exercise under Adeleke’s administration, remain aggrieved and poised to express their anger at the polls.

Adedeji also noted that students rescued by the APC-led federal government’s student loan scheme, as well as undergraduates of institutions benefiting from TETFUND projects, would be more inclined to support APC than re-elect a government that has repeatedly increased school fees.

He emphasized that Oyebamiji’s political strength lies in his credibility, experience, and people-focused programmes, not in electoral malpractice as suggested in the audio.

The group therefore called on the Nigerian Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate the source of the recording and bring those responsible to justice.
