Asiwaju Olayinka Fasuyi turns 70 on October 25th. As part of the 9-day program for the celebration, KAKAKIOODUA reports a special evening of classical and contemporary musical orchestra concert in tribute to the iconic Ijesa man, whose life has been defined by purpose, service, and unity, hosted by the Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi’s 70th birthday celebration's organizing committee and coordinated by Chief Mrs Yemisi Falope, produced and directed by Prince Abiodun Lufadeju, the composer of Ijesa anthem as the star performer.
It turned out to be an unforgettable evening of musical celebration! The AfroClassic, Highlife Concert by the Orchestra lit up the hall at Herringan Hotel, Imo, Ilesa. It was more than just a concert. It was a cultural masterpiece where classical grandeur from the west met with vibrant African heritage in a seamless blend of orchestral sophistication and indigenous rhythms interwoven with powerful African melodies.
The orchestra performed breathtaking renditions of classic, modern, and contemporary Christian hymns, and their gospel-centered lyrics —but with a twist, also an arrangements by the Star Performer Prince Abiodun Lufadeju an indigenous composer that featured Highlife rhythm, Nigerian percussion, traditional folk songs and praise-storytelling tributes.
