The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has faulted the belated condolence visit of Governor Ademola Adeleke to Akinlalu where his boys, the Amotekun Corps, wickedly slaughtered no fewer than five natives of the community.
The state Governor, Adeleke, who did not disclose his time of sneaking out of the state and his destination about two weeks ago strangely announced his arrival from the United States of America.
Apart from the fact that the secret journey of the state Governor Adeleke amounted to taking the over four million residents of the state for granted as the number one public officer of the state, his condolence visit to Akinlalu, coming 14 days after the carnage, is incomplete and immoral unless his government is bold and sincere enough to ensure the controversial commander of the killer Amotekun corps, Mr Isaac Adekunle Omoyele, is handed over to the police.
Why is Governor Adeleke shielding his former Chief Security Officer, Omoyele?
It was disgusting that while the various segments of the inhabitants of Akinlalu were asking for the dismissal and prosecution of Omoyele, the governor was telling them that he had directed the Ede-born Chairman of Amotekun Board, AIG Wale Abass, to go and meet the Inspector-General of Police in Abuja over the investigation of the raging killing. The same Amotekun chairman who is supposed to be arrested alongside the fleeing Omoyele.
Why is Governor Adeleke afraid to produce the Commander of Amotekun Corps, who is believed to be hibernating and esconsing in the state Government House, if only in the spirit of leadership responsibility?
If there's nothing to hide, why should the governor find it difficult to produce his appointee, Omoyele, to the police for proper investigation of the cruel murder cases at Akinlalu?
How has the production of the fleeing Amotekun Corps commander amounted to the interference in the investigation of the cases by the police as stated by the governor in one of his ludicrous statements on Sunday?
To any discerning mind, the posture of Governor Adeleke is suspicious and unstatesmanlike.
