Ido-Oko Ijesa, Osun State — The ancient town of Ido-Oko Ijesa in Osun State's Obokun Local Government Area celebrated its 5th Ido-Oko Ijesa Day with grandeur and traditional significance over the weekend, showcasing the community's unity, heritage, and development commitment. The event drew indigenes and visitors from home and abroad.
During the celebration, His Royal Majesty, Oba Michael Babatunde Adedeji, the Ado-Oko of Ido-Oko Ijesa, conferred chieftaincy titles on several notable sons, daughters, and friends of the community. The honourees included Chief Oluremi Oyeyemi and Chief Oluwatoyin Ajike Oyeyemi as Basorun and Yeye Basorun; Chief James Adedayo Ojedoja as Bobaselu; Hon. Kayode and Olubunmi Arimoro as Bobagunwa and Yeye Bobagunwa; Chief Adegboyega Ande Oyewumi and Chief Olajumoke Deborah Oyewumi as Sobaloju and Yeye Sobaloju; and Otunba Abiodun Olafadehan as Atunluse and Erelu Jumoke Joyce Olafadehan as Yeye Atunluse of Ido-Oko Ijesa.
The ceremony attracted captains of industry, political leaders, community stakeholders, and traditional rulers from across Yorubaland, including representatives of the Ooni of Ife, the Elegboro of Ijebu-Ijesa, the Olomo of Omoo Ijesa, the Oniwoye of Iwoye Ijesa, and the Elere of Ere-Ijesa. Their presence highlighted Ido-Oko Ijesa's cultural pride and communal advancement within Ijesaland.
The 5th Ido-Oko Ijesa Day celebration reaffirmed the town's respect for tradition and renewed its focus on development and harmony. Indigenes expressed optimism that the newly installed chiefs would leverage their influence to support community projects and elevate Ido-Oko Ijesa.
