President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated former Minister of Health and distinguished academic, Professor Isaac Folorunso Adewole, as a Non‑Career Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The nomination was officially forwarded to the Nigerian Senate earlier this week, signaling his return to high‑level national service.
At Thursday’s plenary, the Senate screened Prof. Adewole, alongside former Minister of Interior, Lt‑Gen. Abdulrahman Danbazau (rtd.), former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani‑Kayode, and several other ambassadorial nominees sent by President Tinubu in accordance with constitutional requirements for ambassadorial appointments.
Lawmakers praised his sterling credentials as a renowned medical scholar, former Vice‑Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, and past Minister of Health, noting that his wealth of experience would strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic presence.
The Senate is expected to confirm his appointment in the coming days. If approved, Prof. Adewole will join Nigeria’s expanding diplomatic team at a time the country is seeking stronger international partnerships—an assignment observers say he is well‑equipped to handle.
