Owa Ajimoko III Unveils Road Dualisation Plan, Inaugurates Ijesa Hall of Fame Committee

The Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, has disclosed that plans are underway to dualise the Ilesa Roundabout–Omialadiye–Osogbo Road and construct additional shopping complexes to ease traffic congestion along the Roundabout–Adeti and Itakogun axis.

The monarch made this known at his palace in Ilesa during the inauguration of a seven-man Ijesa Hall of Fame Committee. The committee is chaired by Chief Akin Akinola, the pioneering Managing Director of International Brewery Plc, Ilesa.

Oba Haastrup explained that the first phase of the proposed road project would terminate at Idi Iroko, Itakogun. He noted that the initiative would be pursued in collaboration with relevant government authorities through appropriate and legitimate channels to ensure its successful implementation.

Speaking on the rationale behind the establishment of the Ijesa Hall of Fame, the first-class traditional ruler said the initiative was designed to recognise and honour distinguished individuals who have contributed significantly to the economic development of Ijesaland. According to him, such contributions include the establishment of industries and higher institutions that remain operational and impactful.

He added that celebrating these achievers would inspire younger generations to emulate their accomplishments and entrepreneurial spirit. The monarch further stated that the Hall of Fame initiative is part of broader efforts to diversify annual festivities in Ijesaland, create more homecoming opportunities for sons and daughters of the land, and accelerate overall development.

The maiden edition of the annual Ijesa Hall of Fame ceremony has been scheduled to hold in April this year.

Members of the newly inaugurated committee include the Elegboro of Ijebujesa, Oba Olufemi Agunsoye; the Alademure of Obokun, Oba Engr. Moses Festus Awogboro; the Tirimi of Iperindo, Oba Isaiah Adedeji Ogunleye; Lady Dupe Ajayi-Gbadebo; Hon. Diti Aluko; and Hon. Lanre Balogun.
