The Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland, His Imperial Majesty, Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, Ajimọkọ III, on Friday, January 2, 2026, hosted a historic New Year thanksgiving luncheon at the palace grounds in Ilesa.
The event, held at The White House within the Owa Obokun Adimula’s Palace Grounds, Ereja, marked the first major gathering of its kind since the commissioning of the ultramodern palace. The occasion was set aside to give thanks to Almighty God for the gift of the New Year and to pray for continued peace and progress in Ijesaland.
Commencing at about 4:00 pm, the luncheon attracted an impressive assembly of dignitaries from across Ijesaland. In attendance were traditional rulers, high-ranking chiefs, members of the Owa-in-Council, palace chiefs, as well as the revered Yeyerise and Yeyesogba.
The gathering also drew prominent members of the Ijesaland elitist class, led by Chief Akinwande Akinola Sawe of Ilesa, alongside Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi and Yeye Asiwaju, Dr. (Mrs.) Bisi Fasuyi, among other notable personalities.
Otunba Christopher Iyiola Omisore also made a brief appearance.
The well-attended event was jointly coordinated by Ajirowa Lateef Bakare and Chief Afolabi Igbaroola, whose efforts ensured a seamless, orderly, and dignified celebration befitting the stature of the Owa Obokun Adimula and the Ijesa throne.
Guests were treated to a warm royal reception, with an abundance of food and drinks reflecting the hospitality and generosity of the palace. The atmosphere was further enlivened by soul-lifting musical renditions from gospel artist Abel Praise, adding colour and spiritual depth to the celebration.
The luncheon not only served as a moment of thanksgiving but also as a platform for unity, fellowship, and renewed commitment to the development and prosperity of Ijesaland under the leadership of His Imperial Majesty, Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, Ajimọkọ III.
