Iwoland Diaspora Group Congratulates Ismail Sefiu (Akogun) as APC Consensus Candidate for Ayiwola

‎Indigenes of Iwoland in the diaspora have congratulated Hon. Ismail Sefiu Oluwasinaayomi, popularly known as Akogun, following his emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus candidate for the Ayiwola Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

‎The constituency, which comprises Iwo, Ayedire, and Olaoluwa local government areas of Osun State, is regarded as a key political bloc. Akogun’s emergence comes after what party stakeholders described as a credible, inclusive, and transparent screening process conducted by leaders across the constituency.

‎The screening committee, chaired by party stalwart Alhaji Liad Tella, reportedly undertook extensive consultations and assessments before unanimously adopting Akogun as the sole consensus candidate. The decision has been widely interpreted as a sign of growing unity within the party.

‎In a statement jointly signed by the President of Iwoland Indigenes in Diaspora, Sabitu Adam, based in Canada, and the Secretary, John Adeoti, based in Aberdeen, the group commended the Ayiwola leadership for what it described as a mature and democratic approach to candidate selection.

‎The diaspora body noted that the process demonstrated collective resolve among party leaders to present a candidate considered credible and widely accepted at the grassroots. It added that Akogun’s emergence could strengthen the APC’s prospects in the constituency.

‎According to the statement, the transparent conduct of the selection process has also helped to build confidence among party members and reduce the likelihood of internal disputes often associated with candidate nominations.

‎Several party figures were involved in the screening and consensus-building process, including Alhaji Alao Kamorudeen Olabisi, Sabitu Ayodele Nafiu, Musi Opakunle, Akanni Saliu, Jolaoye George, Liadi Ganiyu Ojogbon, Adeleke Olarewaju, Bisi Ogunkale, Olasunkanmi James Olaniyi, Akinyooye Ismail, and Adebodun Adeyemi Kazeem, among others.

‎Political observers say the peaceful emergence of a consensus candidate in Ayiwola may indicate a broader shift within the Osun APC toward unity-driven strategies as preparations intensify for future elections.

‎While congratulating Akogun, the diaspora group urged party stakeholders, aspirants, and supporters in the constituency to sustain the current level of unity and work collectively toward electoral success. The group also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the development and political stability of Iwoland and Osun State.
