The Network of Kings, Osun Countryside, has paid glowing tribute to the Eburu of Iba Land, HRM Oba (Prof.) Adekunle Oyedeji Okunoye, as he marks the 10th anniversary of his coronation, describing him as a visionary monarch, accomplished scholar, philanthropist, and unifying force among traditional rulers.
In a congratulatory message issued by the President of the Network of Kings, Oba Dr. Ojarotade Adewale, members of the association celebrated the monarch's decade-long reign, noting that his leadership has brought significant development to Iba Land and strengthened the bond among traditional rulers across Osun State and beyond.
According to the statement, Oba Okunoye's life and reign have been defined by sacrifice, wisdom, service, and an enduring commitment to humanity.
The Network particularly highlighted his role as the founder and Board of Trustees Chairman of the Network of Kings from Osun Countryside. The organisation credited him with creating a platform that united traditional rulers under a common vision and purpose, while providing steady leadership through periods of internal challenges and external criticism.
"His vision gave scattered traditional rulers a united voice and a stronger sense of purpose," the statement noted, adding that his leadership helped preserve the unity and stability of the association during difficult periods.
The organisation also praised the royal father's academic accomplishments, describing him as a distinguished Professor of Computer Science at an American university whose scholarly background has positively influenced his approach to traditional leadership.
The statement further noted that Oba Okunoye has facilitated seminars, workshops, and training programmes for traditional rulers across different parts of the world, helping to position African monarchs as relevant stakeholders in contemporary governance and community development.
As a bridge builder, he was commended for fostering productive relationships between traditional institutions and government authorities, particularly within Osun State, to advance grassroots development.
Beyond his leadership within traditional institutions, the monarch was applauded for his numerous humanitarian interventions in Iba Land and neighbouring communities. The tribute cited his empowerment programmes for artisans, support for women and elderly citizens, scholarship awards for indigent students, and welfare initiatives designed to improve the lives of ordinary people.
Members of the Network also acknowledged his generosity towards Ilaa Ijesa and its royal family, describing his contributions as impactful and deeply appreciated.
The statement emphasized that despite efforts by critics to create division within the organisation, the brotherhood among member monarchs has remained strong, a development largely attributed to the Eburu's inclusive leadership style and commitment to unity.
Describing him as approachable, sociable, and widely respected, the Network said his personality and leadership qualities have earned him admiration across traditional, academic, and social circles.
As part of the anniversary celebration, the Board of Trustees, executive members, and the entire membership of the Network of Kings offered prayers for the monarch, asking God to grant him continued good health, long life, wisdom, peace, and greater accomplishments in service to humanity.
The association also prayed for sustained progress and prosperity in Iba Land under his reign.
Oba Okunoye ascended the throne of his forefathers ten years ago and has since remained a prominent voice in traditional leadership, community development, and the promotion of cooperation among traditional rulers.
The anniversary celebration serves as an opportunity to reflect on a decade of royal service and the enduring legacy of a monarch widely regarded as a champion of unity, education, and human development.
