The Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, H.E. Adegboyega Oyetola, on Friday joined Muslim faithful for the two-Rakat Jumu’ah prayer at the Iragbiji Central Mosque, where he called on residents of Osun State to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Speaking shortly after the prayer session, Oyetola urged APC supporters and eligible voters across the state to come out in large numbers on election day and vote for the party’s candidate. He expressed confidence that the APC would emerge victorious at the polls.
The former governor also alleged that the Accord Party had become desperate because it was aware of its looming defeat in the election. According to him, the alleged desperation had manifested in acts of violence, intimidation, and the destruction of opposition campaign materials.
Oyetola further recalled that, according to him, more than 30 APC members were killed in Ilesa during the 2022 governorship election. He appealed to residents to reject violence and uphold peace before, during, and after the election.
He emphasized the need for a peaceful and credible electoral process and urged political actors and their supporters to conduct themselves responsibly as the state prepares for the governorship poll.
