A former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Engr. Dideolu Falobi, has expressed confidence in the preparedness of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies ahead of the 2026 Osun State Governorship Election.
Falobi spoke during an interview on Politics HQ, a programme aired on News Central TV, where he discussed voter readiness, election security, and the APC’s plans for Osun State.
He urged all stakeholders—including political parties, security agencies, INEC, the media, and the electorate—to conduct themselves responsibly in order to preserve the peace and credibility of the electoral process.
“The peace, stability, and credibility of the electoral process in Osun State must remain our collective responsibility,” he said.
Responding to a question on what the APC would offer Osun people if returned to power, Falobi said the party would ensure better management of public resources. He argued that economic reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu have increased federal allocations to states, creating an opportunity for improved governance.
According to him, many states that previously struggled to pay salaries are now receiving significantly higher revenues, and he questioned the impact of the Adeleke administration’s spending on the welfare of ordinary residents.
“The APC government will change the way resources are utilised. The real issue is whether the increased revenue has improved education, healthcare, and the living conditions of the people,” he stated.
Falobi said improved governance in education and health would be among the major priorities of an APC administration in Osun State.
Assessing Governor Ademola Adeleke’s performance, the APC chieftain said he would score the administration 30 per cent, arguing that the benefits of increased government revenue have not been sufficiently felt by the people.
On the forthcoming election, he expressed optimism that the poll would be free, fair, and credible.
“I am not an observer; I am a stakeholder. I have confidence in the institutions of the state to ensure that the election will hold and be credible, free, and fair. Election periods are always tense, but I believe it will end well,” he said.
Falobi also commented on the 2022 Osun governorship election, saying internal divisions within the APC contributed significantly to Governor Adeleke’s victory.
“If one examines the internal dynamics of the APC in 2022, it is clear that the division within the party played a major role. Otherwise, Governor Adeleke would not have won,” he said.
The interview comes as political activities intensify ahead of the August 2026 Osun governorship election, with political parties increasing campaigns and consultations across the state.
