Osun APC Rejects Adeleke's Allegations Against Tinubu, Oyetola Ahead of August 15 Governorship Election

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed allegations by Governor Ademola Adeleke that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, are responsible for what the governor described as political persecution ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the party's Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the APC described Governor Adeleke's claims as "misplaced" and "frivolous," alleging that they were aimed at deflecting attention from the forthcoming election.

The party was reacting to remarks reportedly made by Governor Adeleke at a campaign rally in Osogbo on Monday, where he accused President Tinubu and Oyetola of contributing to his political challenges in the state.

According to the APC, Adeleke also alleged at the rally that the police had been compromised against his administration and questioned what he described as political persecution despite his endorsement of President Tinubu as the Accord Party's preferred presidential candidate for the 2027 election.

The APC, however, rejected the governor's allegations, insisting that they were unsupported by evidence.

"The allegations of political victimisation against President Tinubu and former Governor Oyetola are misplaced and frivolous. They amount to an attempt to justify what we believe will be the governor's defeat in the forthcoming governorship election," the statement said.

The opposition party further accused the governor of attempting to whip up public sentiment through what it described as unsubstantiated claims of persecution, rather than addressing issues surrounding security and governance in the state.

The APC also alleged that the governor had failed to explain what it described as the increasing incidents of political violence in the state, while questioning the administration's handling of security-related matters.

In addition, the party criticised Governor Adeleke's comments concerning state finances and his reference to Oyetola, arguing that the allegations lacked clarity and factual basis.

The APC maintained that the August 15 governorship election would provide Osun voters with an opportunity to assess the performance of the Adeleke administration.

Expressing confidence in its candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), the party said it believes the APC flag bearer enjoys widespread public support and is well-positioned for victory at the polls.

As of the time of filing this report, Governor Ademola Adeleke and the Accord Party had not issued any response to the APC's latest statement.
