The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has congratulated the former Governor of Osun State and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola, CON, on the occasion of his 72nd birthday anniversary.
The party described Oyetola as an “iconic achiever,” accomplished statesman and distinguished public servant whose contributions to Osun State and Nigeria would, according to the party, endure.

In a birthday message issued on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, by the Osun APC Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, on behalf of the state chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, the former governor was described as “a great achiever of all time, an accomplished statesman and a distinguished servant of the people.”
Lawal said Oyetola’s birthday provided another opportunity for the people of Osun State and Nigerians at large to celebrate a public figure whose career had been defined by service, discipline, humility, competence and what the party described as numerous achievements.
‘His Contributions Remain an Important Chapter in Osun’s History’
The Osun APC chairman said Oyetola’s contributions to the development of the state remained an important chapter in its political history.
He also noted that Oyetola’s current role as Minister of Marine and Blue Economy had provided another platform for him to contribute to Nigeria’s economic development.
According to Lawal, Oyetola’s stewardship in the marine and blue economy sector had demonstrated what he described as strategic leadership, particularly in the areas of maritime development, revenue generation, port reforms, indigenous shipping and the expansion of Nigeria’s blue-economy potential.
“Alhaji Oyetola is a great achiever of all time. His life is a testimony to what discipline, patience, competence and dedication to public service can achieve.
“From Osun to the national stage, he has continued to leave enviable footprints wherever responsibility has placed him,” Lawal stated.
‘Humility Should Not Be Mistaken for Weakness’
The party chairman further described Oyetola as a leader of “uncommon composure and enduring values.”
Lawal said the former governor’s humility should not be mistaken for weakness, but should instead be recognised as one of the qualities that had distinguished his leadership over the years.
He commended Oyetola’s commitment to public service and expressed confidence that his contributions would continue to be relevant to the development of both Osun State and Nigeria.

Lawal Prays for Oyetola at 72
Lawal congratulated the former governor on his 72nd birthday and prayed for his continued good health, wisdom and strength to serve humanity.
“On behalf of the Osun State APC family, I celebrate our leader, His Excellency, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola.
“May Allah continue to bless you, preserve you and grant you many more fruitful years in the service of our people and our nation,” Lawal prayed.
