Rotary Club Osogbo Metro Brings District Governor to OSHA

Rotary Club of Osogbo Metro under the Presidency of Rotarian Dr. Bola Oriola Olomola led the club's District Governor Victor Onukwugha to the State of Osun House of Assembly floor where they were received by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye and a good number of Osun legislators.

During the visit on Monday, 5th August, 2019, the District Governor presented the Rotary Club as an international service organization whose stated purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian service and to advance goodwill and peace around the world , stating that the club is a non-political and non-religious organization that is open to all people regardless of race, color, creed, religion, gender, or political preference.

Further, he introduced the 4-Way Test ethical guide that Rotarians worldwide use for their personal and professional relationships. Stressing that before the legislators decide on anything whatsoever that concerns Osun citizens, they should first search to know if it is the TRUTH? Is it FAIR to all concerned? Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? And will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

The District Governor pointed the club's searchlight for talented, thoughtful, and generous people to unite to take meaningful action to change the world. He therefore invited the Osun Assembly Speaker and the legislators to make move to join the club and Speaker Owoeye was decorated with an honorary membership status.

In his response, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye  observed thathat over the years the Rotary Club has functioned as a viable auxilliary to the Nigeria government in the area of maintainance of peace and provision of health care particularly in the area of eradication of the menace of polio. He noted that pacing their signpost with the club's 4-Way Test boldly written on it is a way of getting to the mind of the Osun legislators. He appreciated the fact that the Rotarians are aware that government cannot do everything and that the Osun government under Governor Gboyega Oyetola is running a participatory governance. He therefore urged the Osun Rotarian clubs to continue to partner with the government to take the State to the Next Level.

The highlight of the Osogbo Metro Rotary Club visit included the unveiling of their signpost that is significantly placed at the entrance of the OSHA Complex.
