Adeleke's Administration Throws Weight Behind Iwude Ijesa Festival






As the planning and the preparation for the 2023 edition of the annual Iwude Ijesa Festival continue to gather momentum, the Osun State Commissionner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Bankole Ojo Abiodun has reiterated the commitment of Governor of Osun State, Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, to a successful and elaborate celebration.


The grande finale of the festival featuring today a meeting with Ijesaland clubs and Societies will take place on Saturday, 23rd December, 2023.




While receiving a delegation of the Iwude Ijesa Planning Committee members led by Chief Afolabi Igbaroola in his Abere, Osogbo Government Secretariat office on Tuesday, Hon. Abiodun said, “I am delighted to express the support and full participation of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for the upcoming festival”, as he acknowledged the receipt and acceptance of the invitation of the Committee to the festival.


According to the commissioner, the support of the government for the Iwude Ijesa festival is also to promote the culture, tradition, and beliefs that bind Ijesa people together and in line with the PDP administration's commitment to boost the state's tourism industry.






Presenting the scheduled 2023 Iwude Ijesa festival events program before the Commissionner and his team that included the Permanent Secretary Mrs. Adebimpe Ogunmulade, Director Museumsl and Monuments, Mrs. Sola Akinsola, Director Research and Documentation, Mrs. Kehinde Akinyemi, Director Hotel and Hospitality Management, Mrs. Sola Akinyemi, Director Admin and Supplies, Mrs. Victoria Olatunji and Director of Account, Mrs. Samat Adewole, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Chief Afolabi Igbaroola highlighted meetings with clubs and Societies, pre-events press conferences, football matches, marathon race, ayo Olopon game, cultural night and the grande finale that will feature a civic reception at the Owa Obokun Adimula Palace square.


Igbaroola noted the festival celebration also serve as avenue for Ijesa people from near and far to come together and express warmth towards friends, families, and relations and also a time to review the growth achieved in the past and an avenue to plan towards more infrastructural and industrial development of Ijesaland.






Other members of the Planning Committee that were at the meeting included Mr. Akinyele Akintola, Mr. Bunmi Oladele, Mr. Oladimeji Lasore, Mr. Benson Adegbola, the Secretary, Mrs Bunmi Ogunniyi and her assistant Mr. Tobi Omirin.
