Celebrating Asiwaju Lington Olayinka Fasuyi’s 68th Birthday !

To Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi, having given his time, energy and resources to serve humanity, the least we can do at KAKAKIOODUA Media Services can do is to publish a special birthday edition to let our readers know that we see the good work he does and appreciate them.

Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi was born in Ilesa on Tuesday, 25th October, 1955 to late Chief Jacob Olowookere Fasuyi and late Madam Felicia Sijuwola Fasuyi.

His grandfather, late Chief Anjorin Fatunwase was born into the family of Ifa worshippers by religion and craftmen by profession.

Great Pa Anjorin Fatuwase, a notable and multi-talented Artist, a Sculptor, a Bead Maker, a Bronze Caster, and a Blacksmith, hailed from Irojo, a serene suburban of Ilesa but later settled at Isona, Ilesa which was a reserved area for Artists and Craftmen from where he later became Asolo of Isona. With his wife Madam Osunremilekun gave birth to two children namely, Olowookere Fasuyi and Elizabeth Ojuolape.

Late Chief Jacob Olowookere Fasuyi, the famous Oke Baba Okuta was a renowned Osoomalo Chieftain whose business chain traversed many Yoruba Towns and who was later elected as the National Patron of the Ijesa Osomalo. His participation in local politics earned him the position of a National Leader in the defunct National Council for Nigeria and Cameroon (NCNC). His meritorious service in the Holy Trinity Church, Omofe, Ilesa earned him the Chieftaincy title of Ashipa ljo in his life time.

Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi's mother, late Madam Felicia Sijuwola Fasuyi, a successful business merchant, was fathered by the renowned Chief Priest to the Owa Obokun Adimula late Chief Komolafe Farinloye, who was installed the Segbua of Ilesa by Oba Aromolaran 1 in 1933. Late Chief Komolafe Farinloye with his wife, Madam Odehunmi gave birth to Michael Ajewole Komolafe and Felicia Sijuwola Fasuyi.

Late Chief Jacob Olowookere Fasuyi, the late Ashipa of the Holy Trinity Church, Omofe, Ilesa in demonstration and justification of his wealth and affluence in the society got married to seven wives namely, Madam Felicia Baderinwa Fasuyi; Madam Felicia Kokumo Fasuyi; Madam Maria Olawumi Fasuyi; Madam Phebian Titilola Fasuyi; Madam Aduke Fasuyi; Madam Felicia Adunni Sijuwola Fasuyi; and Madam Felicia Elumi Fasuyi.

Olayinka Fasuyi is the fifteenth child of the twenty-three children of late Chief Jacob Olowookere Fasuyi and the third child of the six children of late Madam Felicia Sijuwola Fasuyi.

Young Olayinka Fasuyi attended Otapete Methodist Primary School, Ilesa from 1962 to 1968. Attended Ilesa Grammar School, Ilesa for his secondary school education from 1969 to 1973. Took a short break to work at different times in Federal Ministry of Finance Headquarters, Mosaic Building Tinubu, Lagos; National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) Headquarters, Marina, Lagos; and Federal Ministry of Education Headquarters, Moloney, Lagos.

He later enrolled at the University of Ibadan, Ibadan where he bagged his first degree in Economics in 1982/83. Served his National Youth Service at Yelwa Government Secondary School, Yola, Gongola State. Thereafter returned to Lagos to work as a Tutor at Queens' College, Onike-Yaba, Lagos between 1984 and 1985.

He proceeded to join the multinational Oil Firm, Total Nigeria Plc in 1985 as a marketing executive where he worked for seven years before voluntarily resigning (a feat that was unprecedented in the company) in 1992.

In the same 1992, he established the now famous Pan African Management Consulting Firm named, Supreme Management Training and Consultancy Services Ltd (RC 208543) with the support of its Internationally Constituted Board of Advisors, operate in several countries across the globe.

Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi subsequently obtained Master's degree in Industrial & Labour Relations (MILR) in 1986 from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan. Also bagged Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in 1989. And in 1994, obtained a Master's degree in Information Science (M.Inf.Sc) from the University of Ibadan.

Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi, an astute Management Consultant of International Repute is a Fellow. Nigerian Institute of Management (FN.I.M.); a Fellow, Institute of Management Consultants (FL.M.C.); a Fellow, Institute of Information Management (F.I.I.M.); a Fellow, Institute of Training & Development (FI.T.D.); a Life Member, Nigerian Economic Society; to mention a few.

Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi attended, studied, and obtained Executive Certificate in Management from University of Manchester Business School, Manchester UK; Executive Certificate in Management from Georgetown University Business School, Washington D.C, USA; Executive Certificate in Management fron Queens University Business School, Ontario, Canada, Executive Certificate in Management from International Society for Business Research (ISBR), Tokyo, Japan; to mention a few.

Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi in 2011, established the prestigious Ibadan Business School (IBS), Ibadan to provide for the human capital development requirements of Nigeria Public Sector and those in Micro, Small, & Medium Enterprise Sector of the Nigerian economy. It is noteworthy to mention that IBS, based on its inspected world-class Training Facilities and Programmes, enjoys the privilege partnership of the renowned global institution, the World Bank in the running of its programmes. And currently IBS is the first institute of learning in West Africa to go green in conformity with the United Nations Climate Change Practice.

Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi, a world class Management Consultant, is a Consultant to the World Bank; African Development Bank; United Nations Development Programme (UNDP); several multilateral and bilateral organisations; Federal and States' Government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

Asiwaju Yinka is the Chairman and Proprietor of IBS HOTEL NIGERIA LTD, Bodija, Ibadan.

Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi, a philanthropist of note, is the Founder and Chairman of Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi Foundation (AYFF). A foundation that has consistently paid for WAEC fees of over 2,000 Students from the Public Secondary Schools in the entire six LGAS in Ijesaland, annually in the last six years, amongst several other development interventions.

On Saturday, 22nd October, 2016, Olayinka Lington Fasuyi was installed the first ever Asiwaju of Ilesa by His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II, CFR, LL.D, Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland in the presence of unprecedented mammoth eminent audience ever witnessed at Chieftaincy Conferment Ceremony in Ijesaland.

Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi saw the honour of this Chieftaincy Conferment as a challenge to communal duty. Within the last six years of his earning the first of its kind title, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi has demonstrated uncommon leadership in the following developmental interventions in Ijesaland.

One, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi realised that for Ijesa as a Sub-Nation to progress, grow, and develop, all communities in Ijesaland must come together to live in love, peace, and harmony. Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi therefore conveyed and organised, with the consent of His Imperial Majesty, the first and second Unity Meetings of all Traditional Rulers in Ijesaland at Ifewara and Ijebu-jesa respectively in 2019.

Two, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi swiftly moved to save Ijesaland from the embarrassment of being cut off from the National Grid by the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) arising from IBEDC/ljesaland imbroglio of March 2019. A planned punishment of minimum of 5-year Electricity cut-off was reduced to less than 3 months due to intervention of Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi.

Three, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi initiated, championed, and mobilized Ijesas home and abroad for the construction of a befitting Ultra-modern Palace of Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland within a 9-month, commissioned on Saturday, 26th December, 2020, thereby having the most beautiful Palace in Nigeria in ljesaland.

Four, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi established the formation of Ijesa Mineral Resources Development Forum (IMRDF) a Non-governmental organisation, comprising of renowned professionals, that has been championing the continuous Advocacy and Enlightenment of Ijesa people on the environmental hazards associated with mining activities prevailing in ljesaland in order to save human lives and protect our environment from degradation, all being financed by members without recourse to government.

Five, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi initiated, championed, and mobilized fellow Ijesa Compatriots in constructing the largest community-funded project in Nigeria in 1B (One Billion Naira) Ijesaland Geriatric Centre, Ilesa, in 10-month, making Ijesaland the home to the biggest Geriatric Hospital in West Africa. Commissioned in March 2022.

Six, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi through his foundation, AYFF conceived and inaugurated Ijesa Youths Development Fund with a seed fund of N12,000,000 (Twelve Million Naira) only to support our Youths in Ijesaland in mobilizing and funding their sustainable development.

Seven, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi initiated fresh dynamic effort to open previous efforts of Ijesa Leaders under preceding Administrations before former Governor Adegboyega by initiating, strategizing and championing the Upgrading of the Osun State College of Education, Ilesa to a full-fledged University under the Administration of former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola. The effort which paid off with eventual approval of the University of Ilesa on the 31st March, 2022 and the University Act signed into Law on the 27th September, 2022. And the National Universities Commission (NUC) gave an operating license to the University of Ilesa on the 10 November, 2022.

Eight, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi initiated and established the concept of unity in ljesaland known as THE HEROES OF IJESA UNITY.

A concept of entrenching unity among the over 200 communities in Ijesaland where we deepen our inter-communities bond and support for one and another.

The maiden demonstration of the intervention of THE HEROES OF IJESA UNITY was the mobilization of entire Ijesa by Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi towards donation and presentation of the relief fund cheque of over N16m to Ilare-Ijesa Community to support the community in the reconstruction of its Community Civic Centre destroyed by the windstorm of Friday, 27th January, 2023.

Nine, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi mobilized committed Ijesa like-minded philanthropists, through the FSTC Scholarship Management Committee (FSMC) to sponsor 250 candidates of Ijesa origin in the 3-Year courses at the Federal Science and Technical College (FSTC), Ilesa. The school fees/total value of scholarship for the 250 students who have already resumed for their studies on Monday, 9th October 2023 amounts to N150,000,000 (One Hundred and Fifty Million Naira). 

In recognition of his noble roles in unifying Ijesa Communities, and promoting peace and development in Ijesaland, the Elegboro of ljebu-jesa, Oba (Engr) Moses Olufemi Agunsoye conferred the Chieftaincy title of Balogun of Ijebu-jesa on Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi on the 6th of February, 2019.

His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II, CFR, LL.D the Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland could not hide his joy, satisfaction, excitement, and fulfilment at the commissioning of the historic, imposing, beautiful, magnificent, and Ultra-modern Palace of Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesa Land on Saturday, 26th December, 2020, which was initiated by Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi and completed in a record time of 9-month inspite of the construction happening within the peak period of global ravaging COVID-19 pandemic.

In appreciation of Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi's initiative and championing the addition of this monumental landmark edifice to Ijesaland, His Imperial Majesty, the Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, Oba (Dr) Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II, CFR, LL.D in presence of the sitting former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola; his Cabinet; Traditional Rulers from Ijesaland; Eminent Ijesa Leaders; Pan-Ijesa Societies; Prominent Sons and Daughters of Ijesaland both at home and those visiting from the diaspora; and the global media announced to the world the meritorious upgrade of Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi and Yeye Asiwaju Dr Olubisi Fasuyi from Asiwaju and Yeye Asiwaju of Ilesa to the highly revered and most respected and acknowledged Chieftaincy title in Ijesaland THE ASIWAJU OF IJESALAND AND YEYE ASIWAJU OF IJESALAND respectively thereby both earning a new history as THE FIRST ASIWAJU AND YEYE ASIWAJU OF IJESALAND with effect from Saturday, 26th December, 2020 and appropriate Certificates bearing the new titles consequently issued.

Socially, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi enjoys recreating with games and sporting activities through his membership of the foremost Clubs in Nigeria. Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi belongs to the First Cosmopolitan Club in Africa, named Ibadan Recreation Club (1902); Ibadan Golf Club, and Ijesa Sports Club.

In recognition of his enviable contribution to the development of Sports and Social Clubs development in Nigeria, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi alongside with the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi; Emir of Ilorin, Alhai Ibrahim Sulu Gambari were on the 1st December, 2019 conferred with the prestigious life title of PATRONS of the first Cosmopolitan Club in Africa, Ibadan Recreation Club (1902).

Similar honour was bestowed on Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi at home when in January 2020 he was conferred with the PATRON of the foremost Sports Club in Ijesaland, ljesa Sports Club.

At the home front, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi belongs to all the leading Pan-ljesa Societies, namely, Ijesa Felates Club; Ijesa Elders Forum; Ijesa Sports Club; ljesa Roots Club: Egbe Atunluse Ile-Ijesa.

Furthermore, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi was appointed a PATRON of Ijesa Progressive Circle, Ibadan in 2020.

In the Church, Asiwaju Yinka asuyi belongs to the Men Christian League of the All Souls' Anglican Church, Bodija, Ibadan.

And at home, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi is both a member and PATRON of 0.Y.C.A. at the Cathedral Church of Holy Trinity, Omofe, Ilesa. Similarly, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi is a PATRON to Egbe Irawo Owuro of the  Church of Holy Trinty, Omofe, Ilesa.

Still on Socials, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi takes delight in exploring and experiencing the dynamics of the world for both learning and holidaying. In this process he has visited over 75 countries including virtually all major cities of the world.

This profile of Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi will not be complete without mentioning his love for music especially gospel Juju music from where he derives his inspiration on many of his interpersonal relationships.

He will like to specially recognize Evangelist (Prof) Ebenezer Oluwaremilekun Obey-Fabiyi, MBE who has always been there to support Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi's social life for more than 50 years.

Finally, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi is divinely blessed with his heartthrob, the Yeye Asiwaju of Ijesaland, Dr Olubisi Fasuyi, an International Management Consultant. A marriage gifted with four awesome children and many grandchildren.

Today Saturday, 25th October, 2023 Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi clocks 68 years in the land of the living.

Today is a perfect day to thank you for all the humanitarian work you do. Thank you for your concern and service to humanity. May you be rewarded on this special day with your heart’s greatest desires. Happy birthday to a unique soul who puts the needs of others before his.
