IBADAN EXPLOSION: Ijesa Development Council, Roots Club of Ijesaland, Ijesa Sports Club, Pay Sympathy Visit on Asiwaju Fasuyi, Yeye Asiwaju






The Apex Development Body in Ijesaland, Ijesaland Development Council (IDC), with their leaders led a powerful delegation of prominent Ijesaen and women to pay a sympathy visit on Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi and Yeye Asiwaju Dr Olubisi Fasuyi at their Iyaganku GRA residence in Ibadan on Sunday, 21st January 2024. following the most devastating explosion ever experienced in Nigeria that happened in Ibadan on Tuesday 16th January, 2024 wherein three organisations belonging to Asiwaju and Yeye Asiwaju suffered material damages.

The blast impact had affected Supreme Management Training and Consultancy Services Ltd; Ibadan Business School; and IBS Hotel Ltd which are located within the vicinity of the explosion.

The delegation led by President, Ijesa Development Council (IDC) and President Roots Club, Mr Supo Shadiya included Chief (Mrs) Dupe Ajayi Gbadebo (IDC VP1); Engr Oluwagbemiga Abudiore (IDC VP 2); Dr Oladiipo Folorunso (IDC General Secretary); Prof Idowu Olayinka (former VC University of Ibadan; Mr Shina Agbetuyi;  Engr Bola Olowe (General Secretary Roots Club of Ijesaland); Erelu Jumoke Olafadehan (Ijesa Sports Club, Director of Sports);  Former President Ijesa Sports Club, Mr Ayo Odidi and Mrs Bola Olowe.



Others were Engr John Fadare; Mr Lawrence Aluko; Prof Gbenga Okunlola; Prince Frederick Adedayo Haastrup; Dr Anthony Ayo Ayeni; Barr. Isaac Oladipupo Komolafe (fmr President Roots Club of Ijesaland); Mrs Funmi Shadiya and Prof Kola Kazeem.




The message of commiseration and congratulations on behalf of the IDC Congress and the entire ljesa General Assembly, expressed thanks to the Almighty God for His divine Protection over Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi and Yeye Asiwaju Dr Olubisi Fasuyi and their entire household, Staff and Occupants of the affected facilities. 


In solidarity, their message expressed their deepest sympathy;


"The impact of such an unfortunate event is immeasurable and we share in the pains and grief brought about by the blast. We stand in solidarity with you and all yours as you navigate through this trying times and we offer our unwavering support at all times.


"We are proud of the uncommon bravery and courage demonstrated by you at this trying period and pray the Almighty to restore in many folds your lost fortunes." The IDC message remarked

"The entire members of Roots Club of ljeshaland are deeply saddened and hereby express our heartfelt sympathy on the damage caused to your property due to the explosion that rocked your community in lbadan.


"It is unimaginable the emotional and financial burden this might cause you and your family but glory to Almighty God that no life was lost.


"Please be assured that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family knowing that God will get you through this period.


"On behalf the entire members of Roots Club of ljeshaland, please accept our heartfelt sympathy."


One would recall that following the explosion that occurred at Dejo Oyelese Street, off Adeyi Avenue, old Bodija area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Tuesday evening, those affected have been counting their losses.



Reportedly, five People had lost their lives, over 80 others injured, over 50 houses affected, and hundreds were displaced.
