Oba Aromolaran Commissions Iwude Ijesa Secretariat as Asiwaju Fasuyi recommends sustainability ideas (PHOTOS)






The Owa Obokun Adimula and the Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland Oba Adekunle Aromolaran II, CFR, LLD, has commissioned the Iwude Ijesa Festival Secretariat Complex at a ceremony held on Saturday 25th May, 2024 at Okemese, Adimula Palace square, Ilesa, Osun state.





The Secretariat located within the Ereja square civic centre near the ancient Okemese courtyard, would serve as the coordinating venue for the annual preparation for Iwude Ijesa festival, Institute of Ijesa Affairs for research for students and those interested in Ijesa history, Ijesa research library, Ijesa Youth Development Council, board room for meetings, offices for all Iwude Ijesa functionaries and reception hall for social activities.





The Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland Oba Adekunle Aromolaran II, CFR, LLD, was full of encomium and best wishes for the members of Iwude Ijesa Planning Committee that initiated and successfully executed the Secretariat project.





Addressing the invited dignitaries during the commissioning of the complex, Chief Afolabi Igbaroola, Chairman Iwude Ijesa Planning Committee described the edifice as first of its kind in the celebration of communities cultural festival in the Southwest.

Oba Aromolaran Turns the Sod of the Permanent Secretariat of the Iwude Ijesa Planning Committee


"The idea to build a Permanent Secretariat for lwude ljesa Festival was conceived in the year 2020. The Committee had been operating from a rented accommodation with the Ajanaku Compound in Isokun, llesa. 


"We approached the Kabiyesi, Owa Obokun for the provision of land within the Palace premises and to the glory of the Lord Almighty, Our Father, The Owa Obokun Adimula of ljesaland: Oba (Dr) Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran I CFR, LLD yielded to our request by providing the space where the facility is presently located. On Monday, 6th December, 2021, Kabiyesi, Owa Obokun laid the foundation of the Secretariat. Chief Igbaroola said while retracing the steps that led to the building of the Secretariat 




In his remarks, the Chairman of the Day, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi, Asiwaju of Ijesaland recommended that the zeal and commitment with which the Iwude Ijesa Planning Committee have delivered the building to ljesaland be sustained to transit the development into development outcomes for ljesaland.


"To achieve this, three important activities would have to commence immediately in this building.


"1. The building should serve as a museum for collection and safekeeping of all Ijesa artifacts, especially those relating to Iwude - ljesa festival. This would enable this structure to become a self-financing, tourist attraction center in ljesaland


"2. This building should serve as a coordinating center for harmonizing all cultural activities in the entire communities in ljesaland and also disseminate information in the entire communities in ljesaland for popular participation of all ljesas


"3. This building should serve as a center for documentation and records keeping of all ljesa cultural history where researchers can find useful data and information for their research works.


"So it is when the building is put into use to provide the above listed functions, that it can be sustained and turn into development outcomes for ljesaland. Asiwaju Fasuyi said as he congratulated His Imperial Majesty Oba (Dr) Gabriel Adekunıe. Aromolaran II, CFR, LLD; The Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of ljesaland whose era and reign continue to witness diverse development and monumental achievements in Ijesaland.





Also in his goodwill message at the commissioning, the Special Guest of Honor, Hon. Abiodun Ojo, Osun state Commissionner for Culture and Tourism commended the buoyancy of Ijesa people at successfully embarking and executing developmental projects. 








Other dignitaries that delivered complimentary goodwill messages included, Oba Samson Omokehinde Oyeleye, the Ogboni of Ipole-Ijesa, Mrs. Bolanle Ojo Yeyerise of Ilesa, Hon.  Oladiti Aluko, Chairman, Ilesa West local government and representatives of Ijesa people in Benin Republic.





Invited guests that included, Chief Olu Falomo, loofosan of Ilesa who was a former chairman of Iwude Ijesa Planning Committee, traditional rulers and chiefs, representatives of clubs and societies, local government chairmen among others were entertained at a reception that took place in the Secretariat's boardroom.
