“With the new day comes new strength, new thoughts.”- Eleanor Roosevelt
As we welcome His Imperial Majesty, Kabiyesi Oba Adesuyi Haastrup Ajimoko III, the Owa Obokun Adimula and the Paramount Ruler of Ijesa land, to the throne of his forefathers
Omo Atuloko,
A b’epo yee l’ori ebo,
Ajimoko bi eni n’ibii re
Omo mefun,
Mefun Ule Uwara,
Oloni a s’ure bu mu;
Oni a s’ure bu mu,
Ajoji o gbodo fi w’ese,
Ajoji o ba w’ese nibe
A d’oni ebora,
It is axiomatic that a new day and a new era has dawned in Ijesa land. A new day that is defiant of divisive machinations of disgruntled elements in the polity. A new day that is anticipatory of more progress and prosperity for Ijesa Kingdom. A new day that is anchored on the development and elevation of our fatherland.
With a demeanor that is authentically austere, he is cautious and circumspect. His Majesty is an exudation of dignity in all ramifications. He drips a dutiful respect for the throne of his forebears. He is a natural. He seems conscious of the enormous responsibility of his shoulders. He values the sacredness of the throne. Obviously, he knows how to be king. He has what it takes to be Igbakeji Orisa. The body language is regal. The carriage is royal. The intonation of his voice is succulent. He has class. He is on a different level. A different stratosphere. A level that befits Ijesa land. A level with which the proud sons and daughters of Ijesa land and all over the world could identify.
Definitely, there is more than enough evidence that His Imperial Majesty, Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesa land, Oba Adesuyi Haastrup (Ki Ade pe l’ori o; Ki Bata pe l’ese; Akun a pe l’orun o, Irukerey io d’okinni; Esin Oba yio j’oko pe titi. Ase), would not, should not, and must not be grouped with those traditional rulers with Attention Deficit /Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) with which we have been inflicted in recent times in Yoruba land. He is cool and calm. Our own Kabiyesi has control and calculation. He is majestic and magnificent. He won’t be a frivolous monarch. He won’t be a Master of Ceremony at the birthday of some single mothers!
Eti Oba n’ile, eti Oba l’oko, eeyan lo nje bee. It is evident that Kabiyesi Adesuyi Haastrup has been hearing things. As if ensconced under a waterfall, he has been drenched in a plethora of information from several sources. Many have come to counsel. Many have come with tall tales. His Majesty has not just been hearing, he had decided to follow the counsel of our forefathers – “F’oro s’ikun bi Agba.” His Majesty has been listening attentively. And he has been critically analyzing. His Majesty has been deciphering and discerning. The antennae of His Majesty’s perception is more than a mile long.
Whatever information put at His Majesty’s disposal have been critically evaluated in a most discriminatory manner. His Majesty is quietly manifesting wisdom. His Majesty’s percipience is palpable. His Majesty’s sagacity is striking. He is taking notes. He is paying attention. His Majesty has a perfect understanding of all the kirakita going on around him. He knows who is who and who is not. His Majesty is settling on an inevitable conclusion. That some of the palace rats have to be fumigated. The cockroaches would have to be depurated. The flies and the insects have to be deterged. The palace would be purified.
His Majesty is also aware that some have to be pulled closer to the throne. He once alluded that no one is indispensable, but insisted that there are some people he was unwilling to dispense with. This is regardless of the relentless efforts of divisive agents to tarnish some eminent personalities. His Majesty’s ability to process what is delivered to him is intimidating. His calm mien could be misleading. It could be misinterpreted. He is a redoubtable soul. His Majesty is a steel silk. An untiring warrior. A soft but effective diplomat. His Majesty is as patient as they come, but quietly determined and persevering. He would not be manipulated.
His Majesty listens to counseling, but he is essentially his own man. Many of those currently milling around the palace would be shocked. They would be disappointed. He has a mind of his own. He has settled on the task of unity for positive purpose. He is more determined to build on the legacy of previous Haastrups on the throne that have impacted Ijesa land positively. And he is mapping his trajectory forward for what the elements are confirming to be a glorious new day in Ijesa land. A new era for and in our fatherland.
Kabiyesi would not entertain malicious report on or about anyone. He is assessing everyone on merit and verifiable records. All tall tales would be bent and jettisoned. All positive counsels would be appropriately utilized. His Majesty is an openminded and broadminded monarch. He is very loyal. He is very humble. He is a realist. He loves his people and is determined to advance their development. He would make them proud.
He has disabused the minds of many that he is not a billionaire. He noted that he was just a blessed soul. He did not want his people to have undue expectations. Those who “ganu” (apologies to K1 Wasiu Ayinde) in the Palace, hoping to fleece Kabiyesi would be terribly disappointed. A very successful businessman with authentic Osomaalo blood flowing in his veins, His Majesty’s resources towards the development of Ijesa land would be closely monitored. He is a stickler for accountability and integrity. Kabiyesi would not be taken advantage of. His Majesty is dedicated to advancing the progress of Ijesa land through cooperation and unity.
He is the harbinger of this new day. This new era.
