Key Takeaways from Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup Ajimoko III's Coronation






1. The coronation ceremony of Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, Ajimoko III as the Owa Obokun Adimula and the Paramount Ruler of Ijeshaland took place on Friday, May 23, 2025, at Ilesa, Osun State.


2. The event, began at the Obokungbusi hall in the morning and continued with a reception party at the Ilesa Grammar School premises.




3. The event drew a large turnout of Ijesa people and visitors.


4. The ceremony had in attendance some of Nigeria’s top government officials, traditional rulers, business moguls, prominent social figures and many media houses.


5. In his speech, Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, Ajimoko III promised to use his time on the throne to usher in the much-needed development across communities in Ijeshaland. 


6. He appreciated the impact of Ijesa elites towards the development of Ijesaland 


7. He said, “As part of my cardinal agenda for the development of Ijeshaland, we will embark on an agricultural project aimed at strategically tackling unemployment among our able and qualified young men.”

8. He launched the Owa Obokun Development Agenda, wherein he donated N1b, while other indigenes pledged an additional N500m in his support. 


9. He also launched a N5bn appeal fund for the project.



10. President Bola Tinubu was represented by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.


11. The planned rehabilitation of the Ibadan-Ife-Ilesa Expressway by the Federal Government was announced.


12. Oyetola said, “I’m happy to inform His Imperial Majesty that the President has directed the release of intervention funds for the repair of the Ibadan-Ife-Ilesa Road.


13. Oba Clement Haastrup succeeded Oba Adekunle Aromolaran II, who passed away on September 11, 2024.
