Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has emerged as the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, (APC).
He replaces the immediate past national chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who resigned from the position on health grounds.
Yilwatda’s emergence was formally announced on Thursday during the national executive council (NEC) meeting of the APC in Abuja, where party leaders gathered to chart a new direction ahead of the 2027 general election.
Confirming the appointment, Special Adviser, Media & Public Communication/Spokesperson to President Bola Tinubu, Sunday Dare, in a post via X, said Yilwatda was immediately sworn into office.
He wrote, “APC GETS NEW CHAIRMAN IN PROFESSOR NENTAWE GOSHWE YILWATDA. TAKES OATH OF OFFICE IMMEDIATELY.
“Former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction. Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda is a distinguished academic, a visionary leader, and a passionate advocate for humanitarian and poverty reduction initiatives. Born on August 8, 1968, in Dungung, Kanke Local Government Area, he hails from a lineage of service, being the son of the Late Rev. Toma Yilwatda.”
