Hoodlums k!ll NSCDC officer inside "kara" market, three suspects arrested

A gruesome incident has rocked Jigawa State as a mob lynched an operative of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps while on assignment at the Shurawin market, Kiyawa Local Government Area.

The incident, which occurred on Monday at about 2 pm, has left the community in shock.

Confirming the incident, the NSCDC Jigawa State Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASC Badruddeen Tijjani, said the officer was attacked while on duty.

“The officer was on assignment at the Shurawin market when the incident happened”, Tijjani said in a telephone interview with our correspondent.

The incident occurred inside the cattle-selling unit of the Shuwarin market (Kara), where Jibril was reportedly on assignment when he was attacked by the mob.

“The attackers, allegedly armed with knives, overpowered the officer and subjected him to a brutal lynching. The attackers attacked the officer with knives, and unfortunately, he lost his life”, Tijjani explained.

Speaking further, the spokesperson explained, “The victim, identified as Bashir Adamu Jibril, a Superintendent of the Corps, was a staff member of the Intelligence and Investigation Department of the NSCDC Jigawa State Command.

“He was rushed to the hospital after the brutal attack, but was sadly certified dead by a medical doctor.”

Tijjani added that three prime suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident, while several others are on the run.

“We have arrested three suspects so far, and investigations are ongoing to track down the others involved.

“Once we conclude our investigation, the suspects will be charged to court, and justice will be served,” he noted.

The command condemned the incident and assured the public that justice would be served. “We will ensure that those responsible for this heinous crime are brought to book”, Tijjani vowed.

The PRO revealed that the command is working closely with other security agencies to track down the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice. “We will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the perpetrators of this crime face the full wrath of the law,” he disclosed.

The command urged the public to cooperate with security agencies to prevent such incidents in the future. It also appealed to the public to remain calm and allow the security agencies to handle the investigation. “We understand the public’s outrage, but we urge them to remain calm and allow us to do our job,” Tijjani said.
