Osun State Police Command has launched a probe into the circumstances surrounding the death of a lady, identified as Bidemi Omole, in Esa-Oke town in Osun State, in the house of her boyfriend, Yinka.
PUNCH Online gathered from sources in the town that Bidemi, after arriving at her boyfriend’s house on Friday evening, suddenly took ill and died shortly after.
The incident, which occurred around 9:30 pm, it was learnt, threw the community into panic, as many residents reportedly thronged the house of the suspect in Oke Esa Area, as soon as the news of the death spread.
A resident of the neighbourhood, who simply identified as Taye, said the deceased died not long after she arrived at her boyfriend’s house.
She added, “We heard the cry for help and we all ran towards Yinka’s house. But before I got to the scene, a lot of people were already there.
” I saw some security personnel, but the crowd was a bit much, and it was already late.
“The deceased was believed to be heading for vigil as of the time the death occurred.
“She usually attends vigil on Fridays. The police have arrested the boyfriend. He is with them already.”
When contacted on Sunday, Osun Police Command Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the incident and revealed the matter was reported to the police on Saturday.
He added that the boyfriend of the deceased had been arrested, as he assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted to unravel the cause of the death.
“The death occurred on Friday. The deceased, Bidemi Omole, went to her boyfriend’s house, also located in Esa Oke.
“The boyfriend is identified as Yinka. From what the boyfriend told us, the deceased took ill after arriving at the house and started vomiting.
“She was rushed to a hospital, but on the way, she gave up the ghost.
“The suspect is already with the police. Autopsy will be conducted to unravel the cause of the death,” Ojelabi said.
