The Ijesa Community Development Assembly (ICDA) has issued a special Thanksgiving message to the Ijesa sons and daughters living across the United States, marking the U.S. holiday that falls on Thursday, November 27, 2025.
In a statement released on Tuesday, ICDA Chairman Asiwaju Olayinka Fasuyi, speaking on behalf of the organization’s trustees, management team and members, praised the contributions of the diaspora community. “We join you in this sacred moment of reflection, appreciation and togetherness,” the message read. “Your excellence, impact, resilience and unwavering devotion to the collective identity, unity and advancement of Ijesaland are celebrated today.”
The ICDA highlighted the ways in which Ijesa individuals in America have served as “shining ambassadors of the Ijesa spirit,” noting their achievements in industry, academia, entrepreneurship and philanthropy. The assembly said their support has strengthened development initiatives, empowered families and created opportunities for future generations, reinforcing the belief that “distance may separate us geographically, but the love you nurture for Ijesaland remains steadfast, vibrant and spiritually unshakeable.”
The Thanksgiving greeting also extended wishes for “renewed joy, divine favour, enduring peace and overflowing blessings” to the families of Ijesa expatriates, and invoked God’s grace for their continued success.
ICDA’s message comes as the United States prepares for its annual Thanksgiving celebration, a holiday described by the assembly as “the most iconic, vibrant, deeply cultural, and emotionally resonant national celebration observed on every last Thursday in November.”
