Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has announced the release of 38 persons abducted during an attack on Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area.
The release follows days of intense efforts by security forces and government representatives, with President Bola Tinubu's hands-on involvement.
"The governor is excited to announce the freedom of 38 persons who were recently abducted in an attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Eruku, Ekiti LGA, Kwara State," the statement read.
The abductees were freed on November 23, with the governor thanking President Tinubu, federal security agencies, and local forces for their roles in the rescue operation.
The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, had sparked national outrage, with three worshippers killed and 38 others taken captive.
The rescue comes after security agencies launched a combing operation involving soldiers, DSS operatives, and local vigilantes.
