PRESIDENT TINUBU ORDERS POLICE WITHDRAWAL FROM VIP DUTIES

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the withdrawal of police officers currently providing security for Very Important Persons (VIPs) in the country, effective immediately. The directive, issued at a security meeting with top officials, aims to boost police presence in communities and address security challenges.

According to the presidential directive, VIPs who require police protection will now request well-armed personnel from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. This move is expected to free up police personnel for core duties, particularly in remote areas with limited policing.

The decision is part of President Tinubu's efforts to strengthen national security, with the approval of 30,000 additional police officers and collaboration with states to upgrade police training facilities.

The meeting was attended by top officials, including the Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Waidi Shaibu, and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
