Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, Ajimoko III, Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland has made an appeal to landlords in Ilesa to reduce house rents for students of the University of Ilesa. He made this plea during the installation of some chiefs and communities rulers on Wednesday at the Obokungbusi City Hall, Ilesa, Osun State, citing that high rents are causing hardship for students, many of whom come from poor backgrounds.
Owa Haastrup, also encouraged wealthy individuals to invest in building hostels near the university to ease the accommodation burden on students as he revealed his plans to collaborate with investors to build hostels within the campus.
He urged landlords to be considerate and avoid frustrating students, warning that exploiting them could have negative consequences for their families.
New chiefs installed included Sobaloju of Ijesaland, Chief Olatunde David, Aladodo of Adodo, Oba Ademola Tijani, Alaralopon, Loosi Isida, Olola of Oke Ola, Olosunankara of Osunankara, Iba oogun of Ilesa among others.
